Job Summary and Qualifications
Nursing Operations exists to support the execution of the nursing strategy to become the nursing employer of choice by ensuring nurses have the resources to take care of patients. The core values of the Nursing Operations team are to be collaborative, reliable, and intentional. This clinical performance and operations position leads the execution of efforts related to nursing staffing and care teams, supporting HCA’s ~100,000 nurses and ~12,000 nurse leaders, in collaboration with our other clinical and performance team members.

Major Responsibilities:
•Execute the Nursing Operations agenda across the organization:
oLead efforts and/or offer subject matter expertise in developing enterprise strategies such as: staffing and productivity, operational resiliency efforts, technical advancements (including tools and/or dashboards), alternate models of patient care, reducing length of stay, and evolving business and clinical analytics improving efficiencies and effectiveness in patient care delivery.
Performance Improvement & Quality Control:
oDevelop standards and benchmarks for performance management
oIntegrate data with other operational tools and products to provide more robust decision making resources
oDevelop and implement systems and processes to assist with quality control
oLead and perform onsite evaluation and consultation in the areas of general inpatient Nursing operations, throughput, staffing, clinical performance, or other areas as directed
oIncorporates evidence-based practice and management principles into strategies and tools
oEnsures that ongoing operational improvements reflect best practices and/or address actual and potential system vulnerabilities.
•Data & Analytics for Operational Support:
oServe as business owner of technical tools and dashboards
oDerive key operational insights from data & analytics
oPrepare data and reports for site reviews and assessments
oThrough data analysis, identifies highest-value opportunities to proposed solutions to workflow and operational barriers- including pilot selection or prioritized enterprise rollout plans through clinical workflow analysis
oServes as key partner and Nursing Operations point of contact for other CSG teams (including Analytics team)
Nursing Operations Liaison:
oLead collaborator with key clinical partners and stakeholders to ensure clinical resources are meeting nursing strategic operational needs.
oProvide performance improvement and operational expertise and support to multidisciplinary groups at the corporate, division and facility levels to ensure key operational initiatives are in alignment with organizational priorities.
oSeek feedback from key stakeholder groups to address critical business needs, eliminate barriers, and ensure performance and execution
oDevelops tools and resources for facility and division leadership/staff to further support safe, effective and efficient care delivery.
Education and Training:
oCollaborate with team members to develop operational content and training that enables users to derive insights from enterprise analytics tools and resources
oConduct and support implementations as needed (including change management, training, etc)
oProvide ongoing technical consultations, problem solving and support services
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Engineering or comparable experience
•7+ years of experience in healthcare environment with background in performance or process improvement, business or technology operations, HR operations, or other comparable
•LEAN, Six Sigma, or equivalent Certification- must obtain within one year of hire
•Strong process improvement experience in a large-scale corporate environment
•Knowledge of hospital Labor and Productivity and/or HR systems and approach (preferred)
•Strong leadership skills and ability to work independently.
•Advanced analytical capability to use data systems such as: Advanced Excel, PowerBI, Business Objects, etc
•Results-oriented with a demonstrated strong commitment and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done. Demonstrated history of timely delivery of cost-effective business solutions.
•Proven ability to manage and prioritize multiple concurrent projects within deadlines.
•Good meeting facilitation and interviewing skills
•Possess advanced interpersonal skills to work in a high profile and fast-paced team environment.
•Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels and roles within a healthcare setting
•Excellent organizational skills, with special attention to detail.
•Excellent presentation and communication skills.
•Ability to scale innovations across large organization
•Ability to use clinical and operational systems at scale to drive improvement
•Strong process improvement experience in a large-scale corporate environment
