Position Summary Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff.# Demonstrates basic computer knowledge.# Able to answer phone, patient call light system, order entry, and organize desk to prepare and compile information in the patient chart every shift.# Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards.# Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, vision and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habits; and treats staff, physicians, patients and families with consideration and respect. Performs all clerical and secretarial duties related to unit under supervision of Nurse Manager or Charge Nurse.# Communicates with physicians and nurses and relays pertinent information in timely manner.# Is responsible for scheduling x-rays, lab tests, surgeries, etc. as ordered by physicians. Qualifications Completion of high school diploma or equivalent.# Must be able to work under the direction of a licensed nurse; and follow written or verbal instructions effectively.# Demonstrates good writing or verbal communication skills.# Follows directions without difficulty. Computer skills required, typing skills preferred but not required Some college preferred but not required.
