Summary:
The Advanced Practice Practitioner Lead role provides advanced clinical care to the critically ill neonates and serves as the clinical and operational leader for the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) team in the NICU at Sisters and Mercy hospitals. This role ensures consistent delivery of high quality, evidence-based care. The lead role promotes interdisciplinary collaboration while supporting strategic initiatives in the NICU. The APP lead functions as liaison between the nursing leadership, neonatologists, and the APP team facilitating communication, education and performance improvement.
Responsibilities:
SKILL AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM):
+ Current NYS Licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant
+ Current NYS Certification as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse
+ Master's degree in nursing preferred
+ Meets credentialing requirements as appropriate through the Medical Staff office required
+ NRP certification; Instructor preferred
EXPERIENCE:
+ Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an NNP or PA in a Level III or IV NICU preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY:
+ Demonstrated proficiency in neonatal procedures and critical care management
+ Assess, plan and evaluate medical care from admission through discharge under the direction of the Neonatologist utilizing established protocols
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Professional demeanor
+ Ability to work as a member of a multidisciplinary team
+ Ability to prioritize tasks
+ Demonstrates expertise in serving as a role model of quality nursing care
WORKING CONDITIONS:
+ Frequent sitting, standing and walking
+ Visual and auditory acuity are essential
+ Works in office setting and patient care units throughout facility
+ Exposure to infectious diseases and uses appropriate personal protective equipment
+ Working hours are varied; working on a rotating basis during day/night and weekends
ENVIRONMENT
+ Normal heat, light space, and safe working environment; typical of most office jobs.
+ Occasional exposure to one or more mildly unpleasant physical conditions.
