The Interior Designer will be responsible for developing and implementing design standards, including expertise in selecting appropriate furniture, fixtures, equipment (FF&E), finishes, and other design elements. This role involves collaborating with internal stakeholders and external vendors to create and coordinate conceptual designs for executive and finance review. The designer will work on strategic design plans for improving internal and external spaces, delivering new initiatives, and managing time and workload effectively based on leadership guidance. Additionally, the designer will develop and lead space planning, programming, and utilization calculations for owned or maintained facilities.
Responsibilities
+ Develop and implement design standards, including FF&E selection and finishes.
+ Collaborate with project managers to create and coordinate conceptual designs.
+ Work with internal collaborators to develop strategic design plans.
+ Manage time and workload effectively, prioritizing tasks based on leadership guidance.
+ Lead space planning, programming, and utilization calculations.
+ Open, review, and understand architectural plans from third-party architects and engineers.
+ Provide subject matter expertise in design for new or evolving initiatives.
Essential Skills
+ Experience with InDesign and workplace projects.
+ Proficiency in interior design, interior architecture, and schematic design.
+ Experience with FF&E, material selection, ADA compliance, and space planning.
+ Ability to create presentations and test fits.
+ Proficiency in Revit, Bluebeam, and Excel.
+ Strong communication skills.
+ Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or Interior Architecture.
+ 8-12 years of professional experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ NCIDQ certification preferred.
+ Experience in multiple typologies such as workplace, aviation, and industrial.
+ General exposure to interior architecture and design.
+ Experience with larger clients/accounts.
+ Ability to assist with resource development, including creating resources for finishes and design guidelines.
+ Prefer experience from a mid-large sized firm.
Work Environment
The office is located within the Willis Tower, and the team operates on a hybrid schedule with two days remote work. The position is part of the Corporate Real Estate group that oversees design services across various hubs and locations worldwide. The culture is described as start-up, with a generalist approach within the design group. Projects include work/office spaces, break rooms, mother’s rooms, lounges, and hangar spaces.

This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr.
