Job Title: Quality Lead (2nd Shift)
Job Description
Promote the company's overall goals and collaborate with all necessary functions to ensure the shop floor has the resources needed to meet objectives in safety, quality, delivery, and cost. Ensure all inspection team members understand and follow safety policies to maintain a safe workplace.
Responsibilities
+ Oversee efficient product flow through quality processes (including first piece, first article, received/purchased product, and in-process), performing inspections as required.
+ Ensure nonconforming material is processed according to established procedures and dispositioned promptly.
+ Coordinate training activities for Quality and other relevant personnel as needed.
+ Prioritize and oversee daily tasks of Quality Inspectors and NDT personnel.
+ Maintain IM&T equipment, ensuring timely calibration and proper control of lost, damaged, or out-of-service equipment per procedure.
+ Ensure inspection, measuring, and testing equipment is used, handled, stored, and maintained according to QMS and/or manufacturer instructions.
+ Maintain work areas in compliance with the 5S system.
+ Collaborate with all departments to develop effective fabrication methods that maintain productivity and quality.
+ Work with Engineering to determine required fixtures and tooling for production.
+ Assist in evaluating and reviewing departmental employees.
+ Verify first article packages for completeness and accuracy before submission to the Quality Engineer.
+ Help create, develop, and implement programs for Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) using Calypso software and inspection arm.
+ Set up and operate CMM and inspection arm using existing inspection programs.
+ Verify and validate CMM and inspection arm programs per Shapes quality procedures, including correlation using secondary inspection methods.
+ Complete DSQR certification training as required by customers and perform DSQR inspections.
+ Assist with Source Inspection alongside internal and external DQRs.
+ Perform other related duties as assigned.
Essential Skills
+ 10 years of Quality/Manufacturing experience.
+ Demonstrate people management skills.
+ Experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) of production hardware.
+ 5S experience.
+ Effective in dealing with multiple priorities and simultaneous projects.
+ Knowledge of basic math and analytical skills.
+ Ability to read drawings and knowledge of GD&T.
+ Understanding of customer specifications and AS9100 specifications.
+ Good written and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience in a demanding fast-paced environment.
+ Proficiency with computers and software, including MS Office applications.
+ Working knowledge with ERP systems, IFS is a plus.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ 2 years of quality supervisory experience preferred.
+ Calypso CMM experience preferred.
+ Experience in aerospace/defense industry.
+ Knowledge of Machining, Painting, Sheet Metal, and Welding practices beneficial.
Work Environment
Work in a manufacturing, fabrication, welding tooling shop. The engineering team has cubicles off of the large, clean, indoor machine shop. Clients are in aviation and aerospace, focusing on tooling and fabrication of parts.
Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Palm Bay, FL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $64000.00/yr.
