    THE POSITION

    Join the Department of Corrections (DOC) dedicated team at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Coal Township and help change lives! We are seeking a skilled individual to fill a unique Building Trade/Construction Occupation Trades Teacher position, specializing in custodial maintenance and repair for inmates.     DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    You will play a crucial role in providing inmates with valuable skills and knowledge in a specialized building trade/construction occupation area (Building Trades/Custodial Maintenance and Repair) that will help them succeed upon release. Your responsibilities will include designing and adapting curriculum, creating lesson plans, and implementing various instructional methods to effectively teach inmates in both theory and practical job training skills. You will also be responsible for assessing inmates' progress and achievements through standardized and teacher-administered tests, as well as maintaining a safe and secure learning environment. This role will require strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain accurate records and reports.

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

    + Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Education equivalent to high school graduation and two years wage earning experience beyond the completed apprenticeship period in the specified parenthetical;or

    + If there is no approved apprenticeship period for the specified parenthetical, education equivalent to high school graduation and three years of wage earning experience in the specified parenthetical.

    + Please Note:The specified parenthetical for this posting is Building Trades/Custodial Maintenance and Repair. The specific apprenticeship period for this parenthetical is 2 years.

    Special Requirements:

    + You must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Certificate I or II for the specified parenthetical;or

    + You must have possession of or eligibility for a current Pennsylvania Department of Education Vocational Intern Certificate for the specified parenthetical;or

    + You must be eligible for a Pennsylvania Department of Education Emergency Certificate for the specified parenthetical.

    Condition of Employment:

    + You must maintain the minimum teaching certification for the specified parenthetical as defined by the Pennsylvania Department of Education's current regulations.

    + Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
