Summary
The System Director of Behavioral Health Operations & Innovation is responsible for providing operational expertise to all behavioral health assets in the Ambulatory/Virtual and Hospital channels. The Sys. Director will collaborate with stakeholders throughout the Texas Health enterprise to drive BH integration.
The System Director is responsible for executing the strategic plan for the BH service line, develops/deploys new capabilities and new assets for the service line, and will lead innovation efforts for the service line. The System Director, in conjunction with the COO/CNO of BH, will be responsible for operational and financial performance of BH service line assets.
Job Duties
Deploys components of the Employee Health Program
A. Reviews and applies existing regulations, standards, and /or guidelines of applicable professional organizations, regulatory and governmental agencies
B. Recommends new or revised practices or procedures based on currently accepted, evidence-based strategies
C. Reviews and applies pertinent information from current scientific literature and publications
D. Incorporates age specific information/infection prevention measures into workers'/volunteers' care.
Administers periodic evaluations for employees
A. Reviews work releases
B. Coordinates the tuberculosis skin testing program for workers and volunteers
C. Administers and interprets tuberculosis skin tests
D. Performs respirator fit tests
E. Requests lab and x-rays per protocol
F. Consults with department director
G. Makes referrals to healthcare providers
H. Administers immunizations
Job-related injuries, exposures, illnesses
A. Provides care to workers injured or exposed on duty
B. Orders lab and/or x-ray
C. Collects drug screens
D. Refers to healthcare provider when necessary
E. Collects information for follow-up investigation
F. Counsels worker regarding prevention and Safe Choices
G. Forwards necessary information to TH Integrated Disability Management for workers' compensation claim processing
H. Administers palliative treatment for minor illnesses for workers who are on duty.
I. Arranges for post exposure prophylaxis when necessary
J. Reviews information provided to determine a worker's fitness for duty
K. Maintains the computerized Sharps Injury Log.
Post offer assessments
A. Reviews health questionnaire
B. Performs physical demands assessment
C. Administers tuberculosis skin test or orders chest x-ray
D. Reviews respirator medical questionnaire and performs respirator fit tests
E. Obtains lab specimen based on results of health history
F. Collects drug screen
G. Assesses the results of the assessment, lab, x-rays to determine fitness for duty and/or need for referral to healthcare provider
H. Notifies Human Resources of worker's status following the assessment (i.e., cleared to work, on hold, denied)
I. Offers the worker the family violence screening tool to complete
Education
Associate's Degree graduate of accredited school of nursing required
Bachelor's Degree Nursing preferred
Experience
3 years experience as a registered nurse, preferably in med-surg, emergency services, or occupational health required
Licenses and Certifications
RN - Registered Nurse required upon hire
CPR - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation required upon hire
Skills
Practices within the regulations of the Texas Nurse Practice Act. Serves as a role model, intra/interdisciplinary collaborator and coordinator for quality patient and healthcare worker care. Possesses organizational skills and is able to make clinical judgments independently.
