    Overview

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others and collaborate to realize our shared goals. Each day we build on our values of respect, integrity, and accountability to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can thrive at work and beyond.

Commerce Financial Platforms is looking for Engineers to join the team and work to accelerate our modern commerce platform through AI innovation in build services, improve the resiliency of the data platform systems , and ensure we provide an agile, compliant platform.

The PostDoc team is responsible for delivering invoices to customers, portals, and others. We help customers understand what Microsoft is delivering for them. In this role you will shape, design and enhance the PostDoc platform to cater to simplified and near real time invoicing.

We seek a strategic minded, outside-the-box thinker with an excellent technical knowledge and the ability to take ideas from conception to delivery.

    Responsibilities

+ Design and develop **large scale** distributed software services and solutions.

+ Drive best practices, and an understanding of why those are the best practices, across the team.

+ Implement **modern architecture** – Help refactor a legacy .NET Framework codebase into a config-driven, event‑driven microservices system. You’ll write services that publish and subscribe to event signals, enabling decoupled integration between billing and partner teams (Tax, Payments, Invoicing, etc.)

+ Collaborate on building the **orchestration engine** that drives billing workflows as declarative configs rather than hard-coded logic. You’ll learn to manage distributed transactions (defining steps, handling failures with compensation) – a state-of-the-art approach for reliability.

+ Evangelize Domain-Driven Design – Apply DDD principles by helping define clear domain boundaries and interfaces for each billing component.

+ Develop telemetry into every feature you build. Help build the **Insights** component and similar tools to log events with rich metadata (correlation IDs, timestamps, etc.) to provide end-to-end insights into how financial scenarios are flowing throughout the stack.

+ Participate in On Call and Site Reliability rotations to support live-site and drive engineered solutions to improve customer experience.

+ Drive for results and impact through ownership, collaboration, and communication skills.

+ Continuously improve – As part of a fast-moving team, you’ll participate in design discussions, code reviews, and experiment with new Azure services. This project is iterative – you’ll get to ship in increments, gather feedback, and see your contributions quickly make a difference.
