Position Title: Communications Coordinator
Salary: $79,851
FLSA Status: Exempt
Hybrid work schedule – at least 2-3 days required days in office or as needed dependent upon position requirements
Expected Annual Travel: Occasional travel may be required
Organizational Relationships:
This position reports to the Executive Director and is a member of the Serve Colorado Team.
This position does not have any supervisory responsibility.

Summary of Functions: The Communications Coordinator plays an essential role in supporting internal operations and helping raise awareness of AmeriCorps service opportunities across Colorado. This position supports, and provides reports to, the Executive Director and works collaboratively with the entire Serve Colorado team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: The following list is an overview of primary tasks.
Executive Director Support
+ Manage the Executive Director’s schedule and provide administrative support.
+ Develop and maintain systems of effective communication and coordination across the Serve Colorado team.
+ Track and coordinate documents moving through the clearance process.
+ General office management support.
+ Oversee credit card processing and expenses for entire staff
+ Manage staff time sheets and checks from grantees
+ Organize and book travel logistics for staff
+ Work with executive leadership to track and report spending data
Recruitment
+ Work with program officers to develop and implement statewide recruitment plans.
+ Develop partnerships with other State agencies, organizations, and entities who can partner with Serve Colorado on recruitment and outreach materials.
+ Promote AmeriCorps service at community events.
+ Support development of digital recruitment campaigns.
+ Assist the Executive leadership team in creating the necessary written materials for AmeriCorps advocacy efforts
+ Create a deep library of content and resources to aid the program team in recruitment and alumni engagement efforts
Communications and Community Engagement
+ Gather information, graphics, images, and stories from AmeriCorps programs and other Serve Colorado partners to elevate the story of National Service and volunteerism in Colorado.
+ Work to implement a social media plan, create content, and schedule postings with minimal supervision from the Director of External Affairs.
+ Draft content, presentations, and talking points for senior officials.
+ Gather program data and information
+ Oversee and manage maintenance of the Serve Colorado website, including website redesigns, reformatting webpages, creating new content, and developing brand new webpages.
+ Support with large external and internal outreach events. Tasks may include: creating large invite lists, developing preparation materials and agendas, email correspondence with guests, and on-site support
+ Support development of the Serve Colorado annual report
+ Develop both Serve Colorado newsletters every month
+ Support the development of memos and talking points for the Governor, Lt. Governor, and other staff to prepare them for events and interviews
+ Support the drafts of press releases and public-facing statements for important events and critical outreach
Governor’s Commission on Community Service
+ Schedule commission and committee meetings, take minutes, and maintain materials and meeting notice calendars on Serve Colorado’s website.
+ Maintain communication with Commissioners.
+ Support materials preparation and distribution.
+ Lead the preparation and execution of commission meetings. This includes in-person commission events that require catering, panels, and agendas.
Volunteer Generation Fund
+ Conduct literature reviews and build community of practice around volunteerism best practices in the state
+ Explore integrating service learning into AmeriCorps pathways (building pathways for under-17 youth to serve and eventually integrate into AmeriCorps programs)
+ Develop and implement social media and newsletter campaigns actively promoting volunteerism
+ Assist in the growth Serve Colorado’s external partnerships and research collaboration opportunities with volunteerism groups such as Points of Light and Volunteers of America
+ Explore resurrecting the Governor’s Service Awards
Other
+ Monitors state and federal legislation for bills affecting Serve Colorado’s work.
+ Other duties as requested and required.
General Skills
+ Adheres to all health and safety policies in the planning and execution of activities.
+ Uses Google Suite to prepare correspondence, plans, reports, schedules, and other documents related to a project.
+ Provides continuous effort to improve operations, streamline processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality customer service.
+ Participates in project teams as required.
+ Familiarity with Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Canva, and Adobe Photoshop

+ Excellent writing and editing skills
+ Experience with databases, Google Suite, online tools such as Canva, etc.
+ Experience with event planning and meeting logistics management
+ Familiarity with AmeriCorps
+ Ability to work independently and with various stakeholder groups
+ Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of constituents and demonstrate focus on equity, diversity and inclusion in all interactions.
+ Experience with volunteer or service recruitment
