    Summary You will serve as a Physical Science Technician (Instruction) in the Radiological Control Office of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Offers of employment related to this vacancy announcement will not be executed until the position has an approved exemption. Responsibilities You will be responsible for administrative control, formulation, coordination, and conduct of theoretical and practical abilities training for radiological control technicians You will plan, coordinate, facilitate, and evaluate all radiological training courses providing students with knowledge and experience of a theoretical and applied nature on matters relating to health physics and applied radiological controls. You will be responsible for maintaining radiological knowledge at the highest possible level by keeping abreast of current developments in the field in order to ensure appropriate adjustments are made in affected training areas. You will conduct worksite surveillance to monitor effectiveness of training and adherence to standards. You will serve as radiological control technical advisor and point of contact for ships and other departments to provide knowledge of a technical nature on applied radiological controls. You will coordinate, administer, and evaluate small scale radiological drills to test interface between the ship, project, and radiological control personnel in responding to radiological problems. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying radiological controls and reactor principles, radiological surveys (interpreting and evaluating hazards); techniques to detect and measure radioactivity and ionizing radiation; interactions of ionizing radiation with living and non-living materials, reactor systems; standards and practices of radiation protection; Shipyard practices and requirements as they apply to radiological controls; and conducting worksite surveillances to monitor the effectiveness of training and adherence to standards.
