Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are seeking a highly skilled **HVAC Mechanic** to ensure the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of our comprehensive HVAC-R (heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration) systems. You will be responsible for maintaining optimal indoor environments and critical equipment functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
+ **Comprehensive HVAC-R Systems Management:** Install, calibrate, inspect, balance, service, repair, and maintain electronic/pneumatic controls and all components of HVAC-R systems. Test equipment to ensure manufacturer specifications are met.
+ **Commercial Refrigeration & AC Expertise:** Install, service, test, and repair hospital and commercial refrigeration equipment, compressors, all air conditioning systems (including heat pumps), and ventilation systems. This includes lubrication, component/wiring repair, refrigerant level adjustments, and parts replacement.
+ **Advanced Diagnostics & Repair:** Troubleshoot, diagnose, and rectify malfunctions in assigned equipment. Expertly remove, repair, or replace faulty parts, retest systems, and make precise adjustments to restore full operation.
+ **Proactive & Corrective Maintenance:** Perform scheduled, predictive, and corrective maintenance on all HVAC critical components. Develop and follow PM schedules, plan equipment shutdowns, and ensure all work adheres to organizational standards.
+ **System Monitoring & Optimization:** Conduct routine rounds to monitor HVAC-R systems (temperatures, pressures), diagnose electrical/mechanical issues, perform skilled repairs, and escalate complex issues as needed.
+ **Component Overhaul & Replacement:** Replace, repair, and maintain mechanical equipment like damaged HVAC components, utilizing diagrams/manuals and hand/power tools. Replace electrical components such as breaker controls, thermostats, switches, fuses, and wiring using appropriate tools.
+ **Specialized Tool Proficiency:** Operate and maintain a range of testing instruments (manometers, meters) and power tools (drills, grinders, welding equipment, soldering guns). Record work performed and materials used.
+ **Procurement & Inventory:** Estimate and order necessary parts and supplies for installations, service, and repairs, maintaining accurate records.
+ **Responsive Service & Compliance:** Respond promptly to trouble calls and work requests. Maintain meticulous records per City, State, and EPA regulations (e.g., refrigerant handling).
+ **System Adjustment & Verification:** Monitor gauges, adjust controls for proper operation, and verify correct cut-in/cut-out for all HVAC-R components.
+ **Project Support:** Assist in preparing bid specifications for building repairs, modifications, and specialized equipment.
Job Requirements
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Successful completion of a recognized HVAC-R technical/apprenticeship training program and four years of related HVAC-R work experience that would demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/abilities. Work experience in a large industrial or healthcare facility is preferred.
Licensure/Certification
+ EPA Section 608 (Clean Air Act) Technician Certification.
+ Certified to use Freon

Pay Range
$43.09 - $43.09 /hour
