This position supports key financial operations for Minnesota’s Public Employee Retirement Association (PERA) by acting as the lead worker for deposits, annuity payments, tax reporting, serving as initial point of contact for questions from other departments and resolving complex financial issues. Ideal for someone who enjoys meaningful work, independence, and being part of a supportive accounting team.
This position is telework (https://mn.gov/mmb-stat/policies/1422-telework.pdf) eligible and offers a hybrid work schedule which may include telework up to 50% of the scheduled workdays each month, based on agency and department needs and other dependencies. Scheduled in-office work days are at PERA’s office building in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Candidates located outside the state of Minnesota and more than 50 miles from PERA’s St. Paul office are not eligible to telework and would be required to report to the office full-time.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of professional-level accounting, financial operations, or accounts receivable experience.
*A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
Experience **must clearly demonstrate** the following:
+ Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and internal control practices.
+ Experience working with accounting or CRM systems and the ability to analyze, reconcile, and interpret financial data.
+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex financial discrepancies.
+ Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills for interacting with members, employers, state agencies, and financial institutions.
+ Ability to establish positive working relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues, members, and external partners.
+ Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in Outlook and Word
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
+ Experience with tax withholding, tax reporting, or 1099-R production, including federal and state filing requirements.
+ Experience processing recurring financial transactions such as payments or refunds.
+ Experience recovering overpayments, working with revenue recapture processes, or performing legal/collections work.
Physical Requirements
Requires occasional moving of articles such as file folders, ledgers, and small office equipment.
