Summary Continued:
The issues could arise during shop or dock piping installation from owner or class inspections, during startup testing and commissioning, dock or sea trials, owner deficiency lists, or warranty claims. The Piping Production Design Unit Leader will also ensure the timely completion of deliverables by the Piping Production Design Engineers and Machinery Production Engineers such as production drawings, bills of materials, work packages, revision drawings, scopes of work, and design change notices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
+ Ensure that all HPSI safety procedures, rules and regulations are followed and met.
+ Track progress of production design activities related to the construction of new vessels. Task and assist engineers with assignments and support in resolving complex technical issues.
+ Track open technical issues throughout the construction and testing of new build vessels. Task and assist engineers with resolving them. Elevate issues to the manager and/or project management when necessary.
+ Provide technical guidance, review, and approval of design change notices (DCNs) as they are related specification requirements, Class rule requirements, and USCG rule requirements.
+ Ensure that the ship’s design drawings are updated as a result of field issues for later ships in the series and/or to capture the as-built condition of the ships.
+ Ensure production drawings, production work packages, and other deliverables are completed and distributed on time according to the agreed schedule. Track and report status of above tasks to the manager
+ Manage the assigned tasks, workload, and performance of team members
+ Interface with engineering design partners to establish schedules and resolve technical issues.
+ Interface with production teams, owner, and classification society solve technical issues.
+ Hold and participate in meetings to support and enable the above activities.
+ Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILTY
The individual will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily activities of a portion of the Piping Engineering Team. The individual will have no budgetary, compensation, or human resource responsibilities other than contribution to annual reviews of team members.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
+ Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related degree is required.
+ Minimum 5 years of experience in shipbuilding, system design, manufacturing, or construction is required.
+ Proficiency with MS Office and CAD systems such as AutoCAD.
+ Experience and ability to read and interpret a wide variety of engineering drawings related to ship building is required.
+ Experience with classification society rules for new construction, IMO regulations, and US Coast Guard requirements is required.
+ Knowledge of and experience with piping systems, machinery such as engines, pumps, compressors, heat exchangers, etc.
+ Knowledge and/or experience concerning modern shipbuilding practices and European and/or Asian shipbuilding standards is a plus.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is an onsite, full-time, safety-sensitive position. Standard schedule is 9-hour days Monday through Thursday and 4 hours on Friday. Flexible start times are available. Most work will be performed in the Hanwha Philly Shipyard office. Occasional field work in the shipyard’s fabrication shops, dry docks, warehouses, and onboard the vessel will be required. May be required to work after hours and from home to support meetings with other time zones.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Since the job functions require an individual to enter production areas, they should have a range of motion sufficient to perform occasional bending, stooping, climbing, standing, etc. Employment in this position is contingent upon passing the medical examination.
