Director of Accounting & Finance

**Location:** New York City (Hybrid)

**Salary:** $150,000–$175,000+ (depending on experience)

We are seeking an experienced **Director of Accounting & Finance** to lead the full accounting and finance function for a growing organization based in New York City. This role will oversee a small, high-performing team of approximately five professionals and will be responsible for both **end-to-end accounting operations and FP&A** .

This is a hybrid role offering a mix of in-office and remote work.

Key Responsibilities

+ Lead and oversee the complete accounting function, including general ledger, month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and compliance

+ Manage and develop a team of accounting and finance professionals (approximately 5 direct reports)

+ Own the FP&A function, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling

+ Prepare and present financial statements and performance reports to senior leadership

+ Ensure adherence to GAAP and internal controls

+ Partner with leadership on strategic planning, financial insights, and business decision-making

+ Coordinate audits and work with external auditors and advisors

+ Improve processes, systems, and controls to support scalability and efficiency

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred)

+ 8–12+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience

+ Proven experience leading both accounting and FP&A functions

+ Prior people management experience required

+ Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and budgeting/forecasting

+ Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills

+ Experience working in a fast-paced or growing environment
