The mission of the District Attorney’s Office is to keep the community safe and to make the criminal justice system better through the fair and ethical prosecution of criminal offenders, while seeking justice for victims of crime.
The SART Coordinator leads and coordinates the 17th Judicial District Sexual Assault Response Team. This multidisciplinary team collaborates across agencies, focusing on victim-centered and offender-focused approaches to specialized sexual assault intervention services for the community. This position requires skills in victim services, team coordination, project management, meeting facilitation, data and policy analysis, oral and written presentation material, and coordination of a variety of stakeholders in victim services and the criminal justice system. Additionally, the role involves assisting in the development of a community medical-forensic exam program, emphasizing collaboration between the program and law enforcement. The SART Coordinator works independently and provides excellent customer service aligning with the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
NOTE:This is a project-designated position for 40 hrs. per week. Full or partial funding for this position at the expiration of the current period is subject to the availability of grant funds. Positions funded by external grants?may be subject to termination if the grant funding ceases. Positions funded by external grants will be reviewed by the 17 th ?Judicial District Attorney's Office for viability in the absence of grant funds.?
Examples of Duties for Success
Sustainable SART Program Development:
+ Develop and maintain a sustainable SART program aimed at enhancing services for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims.
+ Focus on improving sexual assault investigation, evidence collection, and prosecution.
+ Establish group norms and values as well as member roles and expectations.
+ Collaboration with Medical Personnel:
+ Work closely with medical professionals across the community to develop or enhance medical-forensic exam programs.
+ Ensure access and victim-centered approaches to these programs for adult and adolescent sexual assault victims
Interagency Coordination:
+ Coordinate effective collaboration among various agencies to create a unified response for adolescent and adult sexual assault survivors.
+ Build and maintain the capacity to represent the diversity of experience and expertise specifically in the 17th JD.
+ Prioritize victim-centered and offender-focused approaches to address sexual violence and promote public safety.
+ Facilitate accurate and thorough information sharing among all team participants
Community SART Program Management:
+ Staff the community SART program, including planning and conducting monthly SART meetings as well as identifying and organizing valuable community resources.
+ Maintain regular communication with SART members to ensure consistent participation.
+ Maintain structure and focus during meetings, ensure that team members can express their ideas and views appropriately.
+ Streamlined Services and Collaboration:
+ Work with law enforcement, the District Attorney’s Office, system-based advocacy, and medical professionals.
+ Encourage streamlined services to provide a coordinated response for victims of sexual violence, emphasizing collaboration.
Training and Leadership:
+ Coordinate SART trainings and assist with medical-forensic exam training coordination if needed.
+ Provide leadership and facilitate the development of SART policies and protocols.
+ Develop resources, offer regular trainings (both general and discipline specific), and advance team member efforts to engage with the community.
+ Participate in cross-training of SART participants to facilitate a clear understanding of roles and positive relationships, and work to resolve operational and/or unforeseen challenges as they arise
Case Review and Reporting:
+ Develop, coordinate, and lead the case review process.
+ Collaborate with agency and organization partners to present cases.
+ Collaborate with the statewide project coordinator, providing monthly update reports.
+ Professional Development and Data Collection:
+ Attend required trainings for local coordinators.
+ Collect and report data to inform evidence-based decisions, identifying gaps in reporting, prosecution, and access to services; analyze trends
+ Frequent and consistent exploration of best practices, new information, and updated research pertaining to sexual violence responses for all SART disciplines.
Grant Related:
+ Plan and develop special projects, budgets, and long-term initiatives
+ Develop grant administration plans that include goals, objectives, and success indicators that support grant narrative reports and outcomes
+ Provide input to assist in decision-making for new grants and grant applications
+ Grant management activities including compliance monitoring and data collection
+ Prepare quarterly, biannual, and annual report

Strong Public Speaking Skills
Training Delivery:
+ Conducting trainings for all disciplines of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) requires effective public speaking. Clear communication, engaging delivery, and the ability to convey complex information are essential.
Monthly Meetings:
+ Hosting monthly meetings involves addressing a group of stakeholders. Strong public speaking skills ensure that you can articulate updates, discuss important matters, and facilitate productive discussions.
Engaging with Public Officials and Agency Heads:
+ When speaking with public officials and agency heads, confidence, clarity, and persuasive communication are crucial. Public speaking skills help you advocate for SART goals and collaborate effectively.
Qualifications for Success
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree required in sociology, criminal justice, or a related field. Three years of experience working with survivors of sexual assault whether in a criminal justice setting, or non-profit and familiarity with sexual assault victim advocacy and rape crisis intervention. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to perform moderate physical work, and to lift and carry up to 20 pounds;
Ability to stand, walk, sit, ride, climb, reach, grasp and perform similar body movements; possesses hand/eye/foot coordination adequate to operate office equipment including a computer keyboard and, in some cases, operate a vehicle; ability to talk and hear in person and by telephone; ability to see and read instructions, journals, charts, and characters on a computer screen.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Possession of a valid Colorado driver’s license with safe driving record.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
Completion of FEMA IS100 and IS700 within six (6) months of hire.
