Job Summary: We are looking for a dependable, hands-on Dispatch Supervisor who is an organized, calm, and decisive leader with a strong sense of accountability. The ideal candidate communicates clearly, thrives in a fast-paced, changing environment, and leads by example—motivating, training, and holding dispatch teams to high performance and safety standards. This person is detail-oriented, comfortable with technology, committed to policy compliance, and willing to step in to cover shifts when needed, while maintaining strong relationships with clients, crew members, and leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supervisory and Management
• Directly supervised by and reports to the Operations Chief.
• Supervise and manage the work of your team of dispatchers in its respective scope. This includes training, daily activities and disciplinary action.
• Assist in recruitment of new dispatchers
• Motivate and inspire team members to perform above expectations through proper recognition methods and programs.
• Ensure that all policies and procedures are followed per Reliance and client's requirements.
• Communicate effectively with all crew members and team members
• Hold team members accountable for all expectations
• Maintaining and reporting departmental goals and metrics to senior management.
• Covers shifts when necessary
• Attends all supervisor / management meetings
• Completes all required/assigned Company training
Operations/Logistics
• Ensure proper transmission of information
• Enter all necessary information in the computer system upon receipt of client orders (e.g., email, fax) following the contractual procedures.
• Ensure appointments are confirmed.
• Ensure business relationships with our client.
• Control dispatch notes.
• Comply with safety rules and safety regulations within the company.
• Properly utilize and comply with all relative technology provided to complete daily functions.
• Follow all current and new operation procedures.
• Communicate to leadership if a safety risk is presented.
• Ensure dispatch team is properly trained and retrained as necessary.
• Understand and be aware of the rapidly changing work environment.
• Perform other duties as assigned
* Two years of dispatch experience is required, and one year of management experience preferred.
Working Conditions:
This position is primarily office-based and requires working on-site 40 hours per week, typically Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with flexibility needed to cover dispatch shifts as required. The work environment is fast-paced and deadline-driven, involving frequent multitasking, continuous communication with dispatchers, crew members, clients, and management, and regular use of computers, phones, and dispatch software. The role requires adaptability to changing operational demands and attendance at supervisor and management meetings.
Physical Conditions:
The role is largely sedentary, requiring extended periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Occasional standing, walking, and light movement within the office may be required. The position requires the ability to communicate clearly in person and over the phone, view computer screens for extended periods, and perform repetitive tasks such as typing and data entry.
