Special Education Teacher – Wheeling, IL

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instructional services to students in a resource classroom setting at the elementary level. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with a committed team and contribute to individualized student success.
About the Role In this position, you will work under the guidance of the Special Education Program Administrator to deliver specialized instruction, support student learning, and collaborate with general education staff. You will play an essential role in planning, implementing, and monitoring student programs for learners with diverse needs.
Responsibilities Include:
+ Providing specialized instruction to students in kindergarten through grade 12 (elementary caseload for this assignment)
+ Supporting students through individualized and small-group instruction
+ Collaborating with general education teachers and support staff
+ Participating in IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
+ Offering consultation and academic support as needed
+ Maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and district requirements
Minimum Requirements:
+ Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university preferred
+ Valid Illinois teaching certificate as required by state and district regulations
+ Illinois Professional Educator License with the LBS1 endorsement required
+ At least one year of teaching experience preferred
+ Compliance with professional standards of practice
+ Current CPR certification, if applicable
+ TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest X-ray, if applicable
+ Current health certificate per state or contract requirements
+ Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
