    How You'll Create Possibilities

     

    The GE Appliances Communication Team has a great opportunity for a Communications Intern for up to a yearlong internship in Louisville, KY, at the company’s headquarters, where they will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and exposure across communication disciplines.

     

    What You'll Bring to Our Team

     

    The internship, ideally over a one-year period (summer internships are also available), will have meaningful assignments in five main pillars: corporate, workplace, brand/product communications, citizenship, and digital to create a better understanding of the function and build competencies that will prepare students for a post-graduation, entry-level communications position. The assignments are structured around the peak season for each pillar to expose the students to the most exciting opportunities.

     

    •The intern will rotate through five pillars:

    + Ongoing - Digital Communications

    + March - May – Corporate

    + December – February – Brand/Product Communications

    + September – November – Citizenship

    + June – August – Workplace Communications

     

    The intern will report to the pillar leader. The pillar leader is responsible for creating meaningful assignments that develop key competencies for the pillar such as:

     

    + Develop a strategic communications plan including audience segmentation

    + Learn to set key performance indicators and measure the success of communications efforts

    + Project management

    + Business financial literacy

    + Crisis communications

    + Writing in the workplace/storytelling

    + Video scripting

    + Managing a photoshoot

    + Press release writing

    + Media relations such as pitch letters, prep for media interviews, media training, etc.

    + Learning a broad spectrum of digital communications tools

    + Measurement

    + Corporate social media

    + Effective presentations
