    This position assists in administering the State Soldiers Assistance Program and Recently Separated Veterans Program by processing applications, creating payments in the computerized Veterans Benefits Program, creating and maintaining vendors in the Statewide Integrated Financial Tools system (SWIFT), processing new discharge documentation from the Department of Defense and mailing out time sensitive material to recently separated Veterans. This position reports to the Deputy Director of Veterans Benefits and receives lead-work direction from the Senior Veterans Benefits Administrative Specialist. This position provides administrative support to the Veterans Benefits Division and the office of the Director of Veterans Benefits.

     

    This position is telework eligible and required to work in-person for at least 50% of scheduled workdays each month. During initial training, this position will require more than 50% of scheduled workdays to be in-person. The telework schedule for this position is subject to change contingent upon business needs.

    Minimum Qualifications

    + Knowledge of communications sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers.

    + Skill in customer service sufficient to provide prompt and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone, and through email and other written or electronic correspondence.

    + Keyboarding/typing skills sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.

    + Computer software skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint sufficient to develop, modify, and generate forms, reports, correspondence etc.

    + Skill in document and records management sufficient to maintain electronic or paper files for efficient organization and retrieval of information such as contracts, grants, agreements, and other various documents.

    + Skill in math sufficient to calculate totals, averages, and percentages of numbers and/or data.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + Experience with accounting/financial tracking systems/software.

    + Experience with SWIFT and the creation of purchase orders.

    Additional Requirements
