Job Description
The Accessibility Specialist position coordinates accommodations for students with disabilities at Minneapolis College.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
+ Identifying and implementing accessibility measures for prospective and currently enrolled students with disabilities.
+ Conducting intake interviews and registering students with documented disabilities with the office.
+ Serving as mediator between students and the college as necessary for disability related issues.
+ Serving as the rotational testing lead to support the delivery of accommodated and arranged testing.
+ Increasing campus community awareness and utilization of the Accessibility Resource Center.
+ Participating in recruitment activities specific to students with disabilities.
Minimum Qualifications
+ Experience in working higher education with background in social work, accessibility or related field.
+ Experience working with a diverse population and individuals with disabilities.
+ Knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act and Rehabilitation Act 1973.
+ Knowledge and proficiency of common technologies and ability and willingness to learn new technologies.
+ Ability to provide prompt, courteous and accurate information to customers in person, on the phone and through e-mail and other written correspondence.
+ Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporate culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s Degree in related field.
+ Experience working in a postsecondary educational setting with students with disabilities.
+ Fluent in second language.
Other Requirement
Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
Work Shift
Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Telework
This position may be eligible for partial telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.
Salary Range:
MnSCU Academic Professional 1: $23.98 - $34.69 hourly / $50,070 - $72,433 annually
