What you'll do
The Housekeeping Supervisor oversees and directs the day-to-day operation of the Environmental Services Department ensuring a clean, orderly and safe environment. Participates in the department’s performance improvement activities.
+ Assists in development and implementation of departmental policies and procedures and standards of work
+ Provides leadership and guidance to departmental personnel
+ Assists the Environmental Services Director in developing the department’s annual budget
+ Maintains a current inventory of supplies and equipment
+ Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by the Environmental Services Department
+ Ensures that quality standards are met by inspecting completed work
+ Makes recommendations to the Environmental Services Director for changes in supplies, equipment or procedures to improve safety and patient care or to reduce costs
+ Maintains good working relationships with other departments
+ Investigates, documents, and reports all unusual occurrences to the Environmental Services Director
+ Ensures that patient care units are adequately stocked with linen
+ Monitors linen usage and reviews statistics with the Environmental Services Director
+ Ensures all equipment is tested regularly
+ Schedules personnel for proper coverage of the facility
+ Conducts orientation and ongoing training for departmental personnel
+ Provides regularly scheduled in-services to departmental personnel
+ Maintains records or orientation and in-service training programs
+ Assists the Environmental Services Director in completing performance evaluations
+ Participates in information management, performance improvement and infection control programs
+ Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Environmental Services Director
+ Assists the Environmental Services Director in meeting compliance with JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations
+ Supports and carries out the facility policies
+ Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
+ Maintains and ensures age-specific precautions. (See age-related competency form
+ Meets dress code standards for the department, appearance is neat and clean
+ Completes annual educational requirements
+ Reports to work on time and as scheduled
+ Wears identification while on duty
+ Works at maintaining a good rapport and a cooperative working relationship with physicians, health plans and staff
+ Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner in the community
+ Ensures patient confidentiality at all times
+ Maintains regulatory requirements
+ Attends annual review and performs departmental in-services
+ Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices
+ Communicates the mission, ethics and goals of the facility as well as the focus statement of the department
+ Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practice
+ Maintains regulatory requirements, including all state, federal and JCAHO regulations
+ Attends committee, CQI and Management meetings; as appropriate
+ Resolves personnel concerns at the department level, utilizing the grievance process as required
+ Ensures compliance with policies and procedure regarding department operations, fire, safety, hazardous materials and waste and infection control
+ Effectively and consistently communicates administrative directives to personnel and encourages interactive departmental meetings and discussions
+ Performs similar or related duties as requested or directed
What we need from you
Education:
+ High School or GED, required
Experience:
+ Minimum 2-5 years experience in a Healthcare Environmental Service, required
+ Previous supervisory experience, preferred
Skills:
+ Communication
+ Reading/Writing/Comprehension
+ Computer Skills
Physical Requirements:
+ Medium Work - Exerting up to 50 lbs. for force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects
+ Occasional balancing, climbing
+ Frequent crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, grasping, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, seeing/monitor/computer use, visual acuity (color, depth, perception)
+ Constant hearing, repetitive motion, standing, talking, walking, fit testing
Hazards:
+ Occasional chemical
+ Frequent bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure
Working Conditions:
+ Occasional extreme temperatures, noise, vibration, wet and/or humid, dust, fumes, gases, mists, odors

Pay Range
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $22.85/Hr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $34.28/Hr.
