Tool Designer- Rockford, IL

This role is a 1-2 year contract position with the potential to become permanent, although there are no guarantees.

The tool designer will be responsible for designing various tooling components, including cutting tools, assembly tools, work holding fixtures, and functional gauges. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting support for manufacturing and assembly areas, implementing ideas to improve setup times, ensuring foolproof loading of parts, and reducing fixture costs. The role requires designing for both producibility and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

+ Design cutting tools, assembly tools, work holding fixtures, and functional gauges.

+ Provide troubleshooting support for manufacturing and assembly areas.

+ Implement ideas to improve setup times and reduce fixture costs.

+ Ensure foolproof loading of parts.

+ Design for producibility and cost efficiency.

Essential Skills

+ 5+ years of experience in tool design.

+ Proficiency in CAD, GD&T, and tolerance stack-ups.

+ Experience with Creo preferred, but any 3D CAD is acceptable.

+ Strong understanding of design for automation or machining.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Rockford, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
