Job Title: Medical Assistant
Job Description
As a Medical Assistant, you will coordinate patient care and flow, ensuring a seamless experience for both patients and clinicians. You will be responsible for escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining brief histories and vital signs, and entering this data into the electronic health record system (EHR). Additionally, you will assist clinicians with procedures, prepare patients for exams, and perform specific patient tasks as required. Your role will also include patient education, completing consent forms, and providing referral materials during clinic sessions. You will ensure exam rooms are clean and stocked, manage front desk duties, and maintain accurate EHR records. You will also assist in laboratory tasks and complete case management system tasks daily, including enrolling patients in the Patient Assistance Program.
Responsibilities
+ Coordinate patient care and flow within the clinic.
+ Escort patients to exam rooms and obtain brief histories and vital signs.
+ Enter patient data into the electronic health record system (EHR).
+ Assist clinicians with procedures and prepare patients for exams.
+ Perform patient-specific tasks as requested by clinicians.
+ Complete consent forms and provide patient education and referral materials.
+ Clean and stock exam rooms before, during, and after clinic sessions.
+ Answer incoming calls and assist with appointment scheduling at the front desk.
+ Review the clinic schedule to ensure necessary supplies are in stock.
+ Complete e-prescribing tasks and other assigned tasks in EHR promptly.
+ Review EHR tasks at the end of visits and assist clinicians with pending tasks.
+ Maintain accurate EHR records following clinic policies and procedures.
+ Assist in laboratory tasks as needed.
+ Complete tasks in the case management system daily.
+ Enroll patients in the Patient Assistance Program.
Essential Skills
+ Experience in medical assisting and healthcare support.
+ Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems, specifically EMR and Epic.
+ Ability to obtain and record vital signs, including blood pressure.
+ Strong customer service skills.
+ Medical Assistant certification (MA cert).
+ CPR certification.
+ High school diploma or GED.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Open to entry-level candidates.
+ Ability to communicate effectively with pediatric and Spanish-speaking patients.
Work Environment
The role requires working onsite at a fast-paced clinic, with a patient volume ranging from 20 to 40 patients daily, depending on the site. A team-oriented environment is essential, as the primary demographic includes Spanish-speaking patients. The clinic is committed to providing high-quality, comprehensive, and affordable healthcare to all individuals, with a focus on serving low-income communities. The organization promotes from within and is open to training individuals new to the medical field. The clinic is part of a network of seven clinics that continue to expand.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Barbara, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.
