Summary You will serve as a Engineering Technician (Instructor) in the NDT & Non-Nuclear Inspection Training and Technical Branch, Non-Nuclear inspection and NDT Division of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will direct inspections involving nuclear and non-nuclear Non Destructive Test (NDT) categories, such as: eddy current, ultrasonic, radiography, magnetic particle, and liquid penetrant. You will interpret technical specifications to develop nuclear and non-nuclear Non Destructive Test (NDT) procedures and methods. You will implement local procedures to provide technical direction and ensure the shipyard’s Non Destructive Test (NDT) technology and capability remains current with the industry standard. You will ensure all personnel conducting Non Destructive tests (NDT) are thoroughly trained and aware of the required procedures and standards. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience maintaining all personnel conducting nondestructive tests are thoroughly trained and cognizant of the required procedures and standards; Experience applying proper interpretation, procedure development, and approval of nuclear and non-nuclear nondestructive test procedures and training; Experience determining the need, planning, and development of nuclear and non-nuclear Shipyard instructions for the implementation of NAVSEA nondestructive test inspection requirements; Experience developing nuclear and non-nuclear nondestructive test procedures and method for Shipyard applications of advanced technology/state-of-the-art equipment; Experience conducting surveys and analysis of nuclear and non-nuclear nondestructive test operations to identify and resolve problems affecting the quality and efficiency of nondestructive test operations; Experience establishing requirements for technical evaluation of nondestructive testing to ensure continuing compliance with NAVSEA requirements.
