Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
To properly operate equipment from a safety, quality and efficient perspective, while maintaining the cleanliness of all equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
+ Adheres to safety, food safety, quality and legal compliance.
+ Perform all work in accordance with environmental, health and safety standards, rules, regulations and practices of the facility.
+ Must be able to pass training/certifications as required for qualification.
+ Must perform lockout tagout as required by company standards.
+ Must be able to hand form, tape and label boxes.
+ Must be able to coordinate with machine operators, leads or Supervisors regarding any production issues and upcoming changeovers to improve efficiencies.
+ Must be aware of all emergency stops and pinch points caused by moving machinery including energized equipment by air or electrical.
+ Must have the ability to operate all box machine formers including Bliss or RSC formers.
+ Must be able to differentiate and verify correct boxes and ends, set up and change mandrill to run different size boxes in a timely manner while making process adjustments to machine to optimize box production.
+ Must be able to troubleshoot and correct minor mechanical issues.
+ Must be able to properly clean and sanitize all box machine areas.
+ Must keep the box area clean and organized at all times.
+ Document completed work as required by the supervisor.
+ Compliance with all other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- None.
PHYSICAL AND VISUAL ACTIVITIES:
+ Climb stairs involving 12-20 steps.
+ Lifting/loading and gripping/grasping box parts.
+ Reaching horizontally and vertically to load boxes.
+ Maintaining glue pots and tape rolls.
+ Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Ability to wear personal protective equipment and/or clothing.
+ Stand/walk 6 or more hours per day.
+ Constant twist/turn and talk/hear throughout the day.
+ Frequently bend, reach, handle/finger and grip/grasp.
+ Frequently use eye/hand and eye/hand/foot coordination.
+ Frequently lift 5 lbs from floor to overhead and carry 5 lbs up to 100 feet.
+ Occasionally squat and climb stairs (12-20 steps).
+ Occasionally use fine motor tasks and taste/smell.
+ Occasionally lift up to 50 lbs from floor to shoulder height.
+ Occasionally lift over 100 lbs with another person from floor to waist height and carry up to 3 feet.
+ Occasionally carry 25 lbs up to 100 feet.
+ Occasionally carry 50 lbs up to 50 feet.
+ Push pallets requiring 50 lbs of force 50 feet.
+ Ability to visually differentiate items of color, up close and in the distance.
ENVIRONMENTAL/ATMOSPHERIC CONDITIONS:
+ Constantly work in high places near moving equipment.
+ Constantly work in high noise levels requiring hearing protection.
+ Frequently work with toxic or caustic chemicals or machines with fumes or airborne debris.
+ Frequently work in extreme heat/cold.
+ Occasionally work with hand tools causing segmental or whole-body vibration.
MACHINES/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT/SOFTWARE
+ Bump cap, hair net, safety glasses, hearing protection, and uniform or smock.
+ Cut resistant and nitrile gloves.
+ Food safety knife and small hand tools.
+ Manual pallet jack.
+ Lockout locks and tags.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
+ High school diploma or GED.
+ One to three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
+ Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
+ Ability to write simple correspondence.
+ Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one small group situations to customers, clients, and other team members of the organization.
+ Ability to use effective problem solving skills.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
+ Ability to use mathematical functions including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in accordance with production paperwork.
+ Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.
