    Job Description

    **The University of Washington’s** **_Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM)_** is considered to be among the top five Divisions of General Internal Medicine in the nation. The Division has a workforce of over 600, with 100 staff and 500 faculty, and is known for outstanding research, teaching and patient care.

     

    Our clinical work spans 9 outpatient clinics at HMC and UWMC, across neighborhood clinics located throughout Puget Sound, and inpatient care at 4 hospitals in Seattle.

     

    GIM is the largest division in the Department of Medicine and includes both clinical and research functions with a total annual budget of over $110m. Faculty and staff are spread over 10+ sites around Seattle and the Puget Sound as well as in Boise, Idaho.

     

    **The University of Washington’s Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) has an outstanding opportunity for a** **_Temporary_** **Research Study Coordinator.** Under the supervision of Principal Investigator, this position will involve providing varied support functions as part of NIH-funded implementation research. The Research Study Coordinator will operate out of the Patricia Steel Building at Harborview Medical Center and will include field work in the greater Seattle area. This position is funded by the National Institute on Drug (NIDA). The Research Study Coordinator will be an integral team member whose role encompasses contacting study participants, collecting data, scheduling research visits, administering surveys to participants, and coordinating office activities.

    Specific job tasks & responsibilities include:

    Data Collection Activities

    • Recruit subjects to participate in the study by using approved methodologies, such as reaching out to community partners for referrals, sending mailouts, using approved advertisements, etc.

    • Performs screening and enrollment study participants, including explaining research procedures, and obtaining informed consent of subjects and/or their families.

    • Schedules appointments of study participants; conducts reminder phone calls and/or sends

     

    mailouts. Maintains participant tracking logs to keep track of when follow-up visits are due.

     

    • Administer study questionnaires and physiologic measures including point of care testing.

    • Data entry and performing periodic data quality checks to ensure the integrity of the data.

    • Comply with Good Clinical Practice standards.

    • Comply with study protocol and standard operating procedures.

    General Office Support

    • May assist in performing study administrative duties such as answering phones, picking up and delivering mail, storing and distributing office supplies, handling faxes, scanning, filing, photocopying, collating materials, maintaining policy manuals, etc.

    • Participate in staff meetings and training.

    Minimum Requirements:

    Two years of college level course work in a relevant academic area AND two years of experience performing work in support of clinical, biomedical, or behavioral research studies involving human subject.

     

    _Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration._

    Additional Requirements:

    • Excellent problem solving, communication skills, and the ability to work with a team.

    • Proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.

    • Strong organizational and time management skills.

    • Detail-oriented, proactive and flexible.

    Desired Qualifications:

    Prior experience with populations who are homeless and have substance use/mental health disorders is desirable, as is experience with community-based service programs. Phlebotomy training/experience is an asset.

     

    Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

    Pay Range Minimum:

    $44,256.00 annual

    Pay Range Maximum:

    $56,124.00 annual
