We are actively executing projects that advance clean energy and grid reliability, including the development and construction of wind and solar projects, electrical upgrades to our hydroelectric facilities, and the modernization of high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission systems. RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ These positions will focus on construction inspection, safety support, surveying, design, project management, and construction management of capital related tasks.
+ Provide support to engineering, project management, and construction management staff for capital projects within substation, transmission, distribution, and generation.
+ Work under the direction of Engineers, Project Managers, Construction Managers, and Construction Inspectors to perform engineering-related tasks including:
+ Electrical, Civil, and/or Mechanical Engineering Design
+ Construction oversight
+ Field construction/quality control project implementation
+ Surveying (Civil focus)
+ Other engineering-related work as assigned
Must be:
+ Punctual, flexible, willing to take on tasks to completion, and detail oriented
+ Able to:
+ Handle multiple assignments simultaneously, stay organized, and finish assigned tasks in a safe and timely manner
+ Comprehend and interpret construction drawings
+ Work with groups and project teams, and have excellent verbal and written communication skills
+ Work unsupervised at times
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must currently be enrolled in a two-year technical degree program in Pre-Engineering or Engineering with an anticipated graduation date between December 2026 and June 2027. OR
+ Must be currently enrolled in an Electrical, Civil, or Mechanical engineering Bachelor's degree program with an expected graduation date between December 2026 to June 2028.
+ Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license as occasional travel to sites within our service territory may be required.
+ This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match, and/or aptitude.
DETAILS & DURATION OF INTERNSHIP:
+ This internship will report in person to Duluth, MN.
+ This role is expected to begin May/June 2026.
+ The internship will be full time during summer with the possibility of extending into the academic terms up until graduation.
+ ALLETE will comply with college requirements.
+ Hours and duration are subject to change based on company needs.
