Job Summary and Qualifications
The CT Technologist performs a variety of imaging procedures ordered by physicians. CT Technologists are responsible for day-to-day activities to ensure the delivery of quality patient care in a diagnostic/therapeutic environment.
What You Will Do In This Role:
+ Perform all requested computed tomography examinationsas ordered by the attending physician on appropriate anatomical regions in accordance with accepted standards of practice and protocols of the individual site Radiologist.
+ Use computerized tomography scannersto create a cross-section of patients’ masses and internal organs for medical analysis.
+ Ensure the safe and effective operation of radiology equipmentby completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
+ Maintain patient care, comfort and safetyduring transport to and from the table and during the exam.
+ Gain patient cooperationby reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering any/all questions about any aspect of their care.
+ Complete and sign Patient Screening formand explain the procedure to the patient.
+ Administer contrast agentsaccording to site-specific protocols when applicable, under the guidance and approval of the site Radiologist.
+ Monitor patient during contrast administrationand throughout the entire examination.
+ Minimize radiation to patient and staffby practicing radiation protection techniques.
+ Maintain production and quality of examsand document patient care services by charting in patient and department records.
+ Address problems of patient careas they arise and make decisions to appropriately resolve the problems.
+ Follow quality assurance guidelinesand maintain patient confidentiality adhering to allHIPAA privacy regulationsin accordance with hospital’s policies and procedures.
+ Protect patients and employeesby adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, following drug protocols in case of reactions to drugs (such as contrast media), administering first aid, and using the emergency cart.
+ Maintain a safe and clean working environmentby complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
+ Cooperate with all facility healthcare professionalsand comply with facility policies/procedures, including all safety policies and regulations.
+ Maintain professional and technical knowledgeby attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of Computed Technology protocolsand becompetent in the operation of MedRad injections.Provide imagesto the facility in the desired site format.
+ Contribute to the team effortby accomplishing related responsibilities as needed and performing all other duties as assigned.
What Qualifications You Will Need:
+ Current registration ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
+ Current BLS certification (or obtained 30 days from hire).
+ Computer Tomography certification preferred (or acquired within 6 months).
+ 2 years post-graduate related experience (1-3 years minimum CT experience strongly preferred).
+ Must be a graduate of an accredited 24-month Radiological Technology Program.
+ Continuing education credits (CE’s) for licensure, if applicable.
Degree of Supervision Required
Minimal: Individual proceeds on his/her own initiative, in compliance with policies, procedures, and practices prescribed by Lead Tech, Clinical Coordinator or Department Director.
