GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating a variety of heavy equipment used in construction, excavation, and site development projects. This includes dozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, tracked machines, semi-trucks, buckets, and diggers. The role requires a high level of skill, safety awareness, and a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
+ Operate heavy equipment such as dozers, backhoes, excavators, loaders, pressure digger, tensioner, pullers and tracked machines in a safe and efficient manner.
+ Drive and maneuver semi-trucks and other large vehicles to transport materials and equipment.
+ Perform digging, grading, and earth-moving tasks according to project specifications.
+ Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance of equipment to ensure operational readiness
+ Identify & Troubleshoot equipment issues and report to supervisor promptly.
+ Maintain accurate logs and documentation related to equipment use and maintenance.
+ Follow all safety protocols and company procedures on job sites.
+ Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate tasks.
+ Assist with loading/unloading equipment and materials as needed.
+ Performs any other related duties as required for the effective and efficient operation of the Construction Department.
+ Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.
+ Maintain awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations from various regulatory entities, internal policies, procedures, and directives. Ensure ongoing monitoring and timely incorporation of any changes to maintain adherence to compliance standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 3 years of experience operating heavy construction equipment.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
OSHA certification or other safety training. Experience with grading and site preparation. Mechanical aptitude for minor equipment repairs

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision; distance vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and ability to adjust focus.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Equipment operation standards and maintain accurate logs for usage & maintenance
Ability to read and interpret construction plans and instructions.
Strong physical stamina and ability to work in varying weather conditions.
Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Must be able to travel to various locations and stay overnight as required to complete work assignments.
Must be able to work extra hours when necessary and report to work whenever needed during non-scheduled working periods.
During storm season, in and out of state storm recovery work is required.
Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and at excessive heights.
Must have tools required to perform duties and be able to perform routine maintenance on crew vehicles.
Must have or be able to obtain CPR and First Aid Training.
