    Workers’ Compensation Care Coordinator Full-Time | Reports to: Practice Operations Bluegrass Orthopaedics is seeking a proactive, relationship-driven Workers’ Compensation Care Coordinator to serve as the central coordinator for injured workers and the key connection point for employers, case managers, adjusters, and the BGO clinical team. This role supports our mission of delivering trusted, compassionate orthopedic care across Central and Southeastern Kentucky by ensuring a smooth, well-communicated workers’ compensation experience from first contact through return-to-work. This position reports to the Director of operations and partners closely with BGO’s Marketing & Outreach team to strengthen employer relationships, support workers’ compensation outreach efforts, and help maintain a consistent, professional experience for all partner groups. This is an on-site role with occasional local travel. What You’ll Do Patient Navigation & Care Coordination Serve as the primary point of contact for injured workers throughout their entire episode of care. Schedule evaluations, imaging, therapy, injections, and surgical visits, ensuring timely access and minimal care delays. Guide patients through each step of their treatment plan and provide clear expectations for next steps. Maintain continuous follow-up to support a streamlined, patient-centered WC care journey.Partner with BGO’s physicians and clinical teams to ensure service levels are being met. Employer & Referral Partner Communication Build and maintain strong working relationships with employers, case managers, adjusters, attorneys, and other stakeholders. Provide timely updates on treatment progression, restrictions, follow-up plans, and return-to-work readiness. Partner with BGO’s Marketing & Outreach team to support employer-facing WC initiatives, onsite visits, and communication efforts across the region. Workers’ Compensation Authorization & Compliance Obtain and track authorizations for imaging, PT, injections, DME, and surgical needs. Ensure all authorizations meet WC carrier requirements, escalating delays to prevent care stagnation. Maintain accurate EMR documentation and WC portal updates consistent with state regulations and internal standards. Return-to-Work Coordination Track and distribute provider work status reports and restrictions. Support transitional duty planning and employer communication. Coordinate Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCEs) and related documentation needs. Performance & Workflow Support Monitor key WC metrics such as time-to-first-visit, treatment cycle time, and return-to-work outcomes. Identify opportunities to improve workflows, communication, and the employer/patient experience. Prepare summary reports and contribute to BGO’s broader employer outreach and WC program development. What We’re Looking For High School Diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. 2+ years of healthcare coordination, workers’ compensation, or care navigation experience preferred. Understanding of WC authorization processes, provider documentation requirements, and state regulations. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to represent BGO professionally to employers and referral partners. High attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple cases at once in a fast-paced orthopedic environment. EMR and WC portal experience.
