Hospice Of Michigan is looking for a Statewide Legacy Giving Director passionate to provide high-quality patient care to join our team!

     

    Job Summary: The Statewide Legacy Giving Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and leading a comprehensive planned giving program that supports the long-term fundraising goals of the NorthStar Care Community. This leader cultivates, solicits, and stewards a portfolio of donors and prospects with an interest in legacy giving, including bequests, charitable trusts, beneficiary designations, and other planned gift vehicles. In addition, the Director collaborates closely with the major gifts team and assists with high-value donor relationships where planned giving and major giving intersect. This position plays a key role in securing transformational philanthropic support that advances the organization’s mission to provide end-of-life care across the state.

    Essential Functions:

    + In collaboration with the AVP, designs and leads a statewide planned giving strategy aligned with organizational goals.

    + Manages a portfolio of planned giving prospects, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. Ensures financial goals are met or surpassed for designated areas of annual budget.

    + Develops personalized donor plans to foster deep, values-based philanthropic relationships.

    + Serves as the organization’s subject matter expert on charitable estate and gift planning.

    + Partners with legal, finance, and foundation operations teams to ensure accurate gift documentation, compliance, and administration of planned gifts.

    + Builds and maintains strong relationships with estate planning attorneys, financial advisors, and other professional partners.

    + Maintains an up-to-date understanding of charitable giving laws, IRS guidelines, and estate planning best practices.

    + Cultivates and stewards a select portfolio of major gift prospects.

    + Proactively keeps abreast of fundraising procedures being used in the nonprofit arena.

    + Works cooperatively and collaboratively with NorthStar Care Community staff to match departmental needs with funding sources.

    + Actively participates in meetings at the individual, group and organizational levels, both within and external to the organization, to achieve desired outcomes.

    + Adjusts to changes in workload and schedules based on changing departmental and organizational priorities.

    + Represents the NorthStar Care Community at events as appropriate and required.

    + Models and promotes knowledge of palliative care and hospice philosophies and articulates and promotes NorthStar Care Community’s vision, mission, and values locally, statewide and nationally, when appropriate.

    + Adheres to organizational Code of Conduct, policies and procedures and all regulatory and legal requirements.

    + Adheres to the NorthStar standards to care for every person, every time, 100% of the time.

    Qualifications:

    + Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s degree preferred.

    + A minimum of five (5) years’ financial experience required. Hospice experience strongly preferred.

    + Demonstrated financial analysis and budgeting skills required.

    + Excellent problem solving skills that are rooted in both quantitative and qualitative assessment.

    + Demonstrated ability to produce results while still being an excellent team player.

    + A collaborative, participatory and inclusive style when working at all levels of the organization required.

    + Strong verbal and written communication skills required. Ability to speak at public forums required.

    + Experience with Microsoft Office products required; Raiser’s Edge or similar software experience preferred.

    + Must possess excellent interpersonal skills, sound judgment, effective organizational, prioritization and follow-through skills, attention to detail, tact, dependability, emotional intelligence and the ability to promote positive, constructive relationships with communication and collaboration at all levels with the ability to maintain confidentiality

    + The physical demands of the position include: vision, effective speech and hearing for extensive telephone contact; repetitive motion; traveling; driving or riding in motor vehicle; standing, sitting, walking, bending, reaching, and stretching; lifting up to twenty-five (25) pounds unassisted.

    + Must have reliable transportation.

    + Must be eligible to work in the United States.
