Research Technician I
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
High School diploma/GED (foreign equivalent or higher). Working knowledge of typical tests or procedures/techniques relative to the field of neuroscience and chemoreception OR working knowledge of immunohistochemistry, rodent behavior, brain tissue processing, laboratory procedures. Familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment relative to the field of neuroscience and chemoreception.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Biology or another related field in hand by May 2026. One [1] year of full-time experience directly related to the project or program to include experience in a laboratory environment. Experience with a variety of neuroscience-related techniques (e.g., rodent behavior, brain dissection, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry, image analysis).
Brief Description of Duties:
Working under general supervision, the incumbent will perform a variety of routine and/or semi-skilled tasks to support and directly assist a research project or program for Dr. Arianna Maffei (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/neurobiology/people/faculty\_Arianna\_Maffei.php#RecentPublications) in the Department of Neurobiology & Behavior, either in the laboratory or in the field. Therefore, the selected applicant will need to have a working knowledge of typical tests, procedures or techniques relative to the field as well as familiarity with the operation of specialized apparatus or equipment relative to the field.
The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
+ Assist with experimental procedures, behavioral experiments, and data analysis.
+ Participate in weekly lab meetings.
+ Maintain lab inventory and equipment.
+ Assist in ordering supplies and equipment to keep the lab inventory well stocked.
+ Other duties as assigned.

The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Non Exempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
