*Position Summary* We are seeking a highly motivated AI Engineering Intern with a passion for artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and data-driven development. You will work alongside our MassDOT Technology division’s AI Engineering team to design, build, and deploy AI/ML applications and data pipelines using AWS services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain real-world experience applying machine learning and AI techniques in a cloud-native environment. *Duties and Responsibilities* AI & Machine Learning Responsibilities * Develop and fine-tune large language models (LLMs) and other machine learning models using AWS tools such as Bedrock, SageMaker, Kendra, Lambda, and Deep Learning AMIs. * Assist in the design and deployment of AI/ML-powered applications and intelligent automation workflows. * Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and daily stand-up meetings with cross-functional teams. * Research emerging AI/ML techniques and support experimentation and documentation of findings Cross-Functional & Application Support Responsibilities * Collaborate with stakeholders and application owners to gather and define business and technical requirements. * Analyze existing workflows, identify opportunities for automation or improvement, and contribute to gap analyses. * Assist with the development of project work plans, estimates, deliverables, and documentation. * Create case scenarios and participate in the user acceptance testing (UAT) process. * Document support tickets and ensure timely communication with business and IT stakeholders. * Coordinate with vendors, internal teams, and leadership to manage system enhancements and troubleshoot issues. * Maintain clear documentation of current and future state system processes. *Preferred Qualifications* * Ability to define, manage and exceed customer expectations. * Strong intellectual curiosity and capacity for professional growth * Perform with a strong sense of urgency. * Attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities. * High level of professionalism and focus on quality. * Familiarity with Web and SAAS cloud applications and configuration * Proficient with Microsoft Office with strong Word and Excel skills. * Excellent written, verbal, and analytical skills. * Ability to effectively communicate and build consensus across various project stakeholders including, IT management, business customers and other IT colleagues and team members. *Pre-Hire Process* Upon a conditional offer of employment, applicants must agree to and successfully satisfy: (i) a comprehensive name-based and fingerprint-based background check of his/her state and federal criminal history records information from all U.S. states, the District of Columbia and certain U.S. Territories and from some foreign nations; (ii) an employment reference check, and (iii) a satisfactory review of his/her driving records to be eligible for this position. *About MassDOT* The 4,000 employees of Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT)takes great pride in connecting the Commonwealth’s residents and communities.
