Job Description

The Custodial Supervisor will assist management in maintaining or improving cleanliness quality through inspections, training and employee accountability, including employee coaching or counseling. Supervisors must build upon established employee or customer relationships, improve employee morale, and help develop frontline associates on a continuous basis.

The Night Custodial Supervisor is responsible for overseeing custodial operations across campus during evening hours. This role ensures that academic, administrative, residential, and common areas are maintained to high standards of cleanliness, safety, and appearance in support of the university’s mission and campus community.

Job Responsibilities

+ Supervise and lead custodial staff assigned to night shifts across campus buildings

+ Assign nightly work schedules and ensure tasks are completed according to established cleaning standards

+ Conduct routine inspections of facilities to verify quality, safety, and compliance

+ Provide hands-on support, coaching, and training to custodial staff as needed

+ Address service requests, emergencies, and operational issues in a timely and professional manner

+ Enforce university policies, safety procedures, and proper use of equipment and chemicals

+ Maintain accurate shift reports, inspection logs, and incident documentation

+ Communicate effectively with day supervisors and management regarding completed work and follow-up needs

+ Monitor staffing levels, respond to call-outs, and assist with timekeeping accuracy

+ Ensure secure access to facilities during overnight hours

+ Provide functional/operational support to work area as essential personnel during times of emergency, catastrophe, inclement weather, etc.

Qualifications

+ Experience working in a university or large campus environment

+ Familiarity with floor care, events, and specialized cleaning processes

+ Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

+ Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

+ Ability to perform repetitive motions and operate custodial equipment
