Summary This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies through the DHA for Defense Industrial Base, Major Range and Test Facilities. Responsibilities You will perform a variety of metal repair, fabrication, plan, layout and structural disassembly/assembly of aircraft and aircraft components. You will disassemble, repair, assemble, modify, measure, and/or check, as required, to process aircraft, aircraft engine structures, components, assembles, and/or sub-assemblies. You will analyze and troubleshoot aircraft metal structures and components to determine repair or replacement needs. You will work from drawings, manuals, technical directives, instructions and at times, under the guidance of a higher-graded mechanic. You will perform specialized work in aircraft systems that require advanced sheet metal skills, including hole-quality, cold working, and layout and design. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most trade and labor occupations, you must show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the job elements and screen out listed below: FOR THE WG-05 This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including: Assisting senior sheet metal artisans in removing, installing, and repairing aircraft sheet metal components, including fuselage panels, tail sections, wings, and doors; Learning how to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring devices under supervision; Assisting w/inspections and repair tasks following instructions and established procedures; AND Learn to interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical manuals related to sheet metal work. FOR THE WG-08 This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: The ability to perform common tasks including: Removing, installing, modifying, and repairing sheet metal components on various aircraft types and systems; Interpreting and applying technical drawings, blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals to guide repair and installation work; Performing precision sheet metal forming, fabrication, and welding techniques to repair or fabricate parts; AND Diagnosing and identifying issues in sheet metal structures, and conduct routine maintenance inspections and repairs on aircraft systems. FOR THE WG-10 This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not meet the screen-out element will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision: Interpreting instructions and specifications, including blueprints; (e.g., Receiving oral directions from supervisor or other person; hand or mechanical signals. Written directions from supervisor and work orders. Manufacturers' guides, catalogues, technical manuals, bulletins, codes, drawings, blueprints, charts, and maps; requests, complaints, etc. received from customers, engineers, technicians, scientists, or the public);. Getting information about a limited subject such as materials to be used, sizes, etc., or operations to perform. Interpreting changes in instructions - getting information on allowances, tolerances, etc; AND Perform the full range of aircraft sheet metal mechanic duties, including the most complex repairs and fabrications on various aircraft types. . Education Additional Information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. Several vacancies may be filled.
