The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Management and Finance has a vacancy.
The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare.
Step into a pivotal executive role with the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality (LDEQ). As Deputy Undersecretary 2, you will serve as the principal advisor to the Undersecretary, driving agency-wide operations, shaping policy, overseeing critical statewide programs, and ensuring the smooth, strategic functioning of the Office of Management and Finance. This is a high-impact leadership position for someone ready to influence major administrative, financial, and operational decisions across the department.
An ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of the required experience for the following minimum qualifications must have been at the managerial level or above:
Eight years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
Six years of full-time experience in any field plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus five years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization; OR
An advanced degree, or a Juris Doctorate, plus four years of experience in developing, managing, or evaluating administrative programs, operational programs, or special projects or initiatives within a public or private sector organization.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
+ Provide executive leadership across Support Services, HR, Financial Services, and major agency programs, serving as principal advisor to the Undersecretary.
+ Oversee division operations, including technology initiatives, financial assurance, fleet and asset management, records management, and statewide support services.
+ Lead legislative and fiscal analysis, preparing fiscal notes, coordinating with the Legislative Fiscal Office, and representing LDEQ in legislative settings.
+ Drive strategic and modernization initiatives, including policy development, process improvements, and agency-wide operational planning.
+ Serve as senior advisor and departmental representative, offering guidance on complex administrative issues and representing LDEQ in meetings and external engagements.

Appointment Type: This position may be filled as either a probational appointment, or promotion of permanent classified employee.
