About this Job
The Louisiana State Police is a statutorily mandated, statewide law enforcement agency charged with ensuring the safety, order, and security of the people in the state through enforcement, regulation, education, and provision of other essential public safety services.
The Louisiana State Police Technology and Business Support Team was developed to optimize the efficient and innovative use of the most advanced technology and processes available to analyze and report operational data. The goal is to maximize data analysis and use of technology platforms to improve the Department’s efficiency, performance, and service to the citizens of Louisiana.
Minimum Qualifications
Six years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
An associate’s degree in information technology plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree plus four years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A bachelor’s degree with twenty-four semester hours in an information technology, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or business analytics field plus three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis; OR
A master’s degree plus three years of experience in information technology, project management or business analysis.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NOTE:
A certification in an approved area may be substituted for the education and/or experience requirements at the time of hire or promotion, provided the appointment is made from a Certificate of Eligibles.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
* Serves as the lead Portfolio Specialist for LSP technology support section.
* Analyzes and demos proposed technology solutions.
* Conducts advanced project analyses relative to LADPS technology initiatives, business processes, and/or systems. Serves as a liaison between end-users and technology staff to facilitate ideas and discussions related to project analysis and reporting.
* Communicates with users to explain technology changes as it relates to agency operations. Prepares a variety of official communications relative to technical changes.
Position-Specific Details:
Appointment Type:This is a promotional opportunity for classified, permanent employees of the Louisiana Department of Public Safety, Office of Technology and Business Support.
Career Progression:This position does not participate in a Career Progression Group.
Work Schedule: Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
Compensation:The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience. The bi-weekly rate for this position is as follows:
Business Technology Specialist 1 (TS314) - $2,201.60
