Position Overview
As the Director of the Project Management Office (PMO) for the Residential Business Unit, you will lead a team of Project Managers focused on New Product Development (NPD), commercialization, and product strategy— this is not an IT or technology PMO role. This role ensures the timely and efficient execution of all NPD initiatives, guiding each project through defined tollgates from concept to market launch. You will oversee and continuously improve the NPD process, partnering closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Marketing, Sales, and Operations to deliver innovative products to market.
This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in Dalton, GA and requires on-site presence.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Govern the Product Development Process
+ Champion the effectiveness of the gated New Product Development (NPD) process, ensuring every project advances with clear accountability and timely decision-making.
+ Develop, implement, and continuously improve standardized project management methodologies, tools, and templates tailored for product development and commercialization.
Build and Empower a High-Performing Team
+ Recruit, develop, and inspire a team of skilled Project Managers.
+ Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence.
Drive Project & Portfolio Execution
+ Translate product roadmaps into executable projects with defined milestones, KPIs, and risk mitigation plans.
+ Oversee the execution of projects from concept through launch, ensuring alignment with business goals, timelines, and budgets.
+ Facilitate seamless cross-functional collaboration across technical, product, design, supply chain, brand, and manufacturing teams.
+ Ensure full implementation of a project/portfolio management system that provides the pipeline visibility and modeling necessary to make effective decisions
Strategic Alignment & Stakeholder Communication
+ Serve as a key liaison between product leadership and critical stakeholders, ensuring transparency, alignment, and timely escalation of risks and opportunities.
+ Lead project gate reviews, steering committees, and executive updates to communicate progress and drive informed decisions.
Champion Continuous Improvement
+ Leverage data and insights to optimize project performance, resource allocation, and time-to-market.
+ Drive a culture of continuous improvement within the product development and introduction processes.
Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field; PMP (required), MBA and/or PgMP (preferred).
+ 10+ years of program or project management experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role supporting product management or innovation.
+ Strong understanding of consumer product development, go-to-market strategies, and cross-functional product delivery.
+ Experience in matrixed organizations using waterfall and/or agile methodologies.
+ Demonstrated high level of proficiency in project management software (Workfront experience preferred).
