The Lunch Assistant supports the daily meal service at the Adult Day Care by assisting with food preparation, serving, and clean-up while maintaining a safe, sanitary, and welcoming dining environment for members. This role helps ensure mealtimes are pleasant, dignified, and supportive of the nutritional and social needs of clients.

+ Assist with receiving, preparing, and serving meals in accordance with food safety standards and center guidelines.

+ Set up and organize the dining area, ensuring a clean and inviting environment for participants.

+ Serve meals in a respectful, courteous manner while assisting members who may require extra support.

+ Monitor portion control to ensure compliance with dietary needs and program guidelines.

+ Uphold sanitation and hygiene practices, including proper food handling, storage, and clean-up.

+ Wash, sanitize, and store dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment.

+ Support staff in documenting meal counts and reporting any concerns regarding members’ dietary intake or needs.

+ Encourage a positive, social mealtime experience by engaging respectfully with members.

+ Follow all health department regulations and organizational policies for food service.

+ Assist with special events or activities that involve meals or refreshments.

Position requires standing for extended periods, bending, lifting to 25 lbs., and working around kitchen equipment.

Required:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

Food Handler Certification (preferred).

+ Prior experience in food service, nutrition programs, or caregiving setting preferred.

+ Dependable, team-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment.

+ Adult Day Center or LTC setting serving older adults and individuals with memory or physical impairments.
