    The Float Pool provides a unique experience for caregivers to care for diverse populations of patients in many units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers. As Patient Companion for the Float Pool, you will help facilitate this mission by providing compassionate and top-quality care. In this role, you will assist RNs, physicians, dietitians and other staff in coordinating and fulfilling treatment plans. You will also find a culture that encourages professional growth, educational development and career success.

     

    This is a regular PRN position, with caregivers working day/evening/night/weekend shifts varying between 7:00 a.m. - 7:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. - 7:30 a.m.

     

    _Shifts can be 4, 8, or 12 hours, as long as caregivers meet a 48-hour minimum over a six-week period._

     

    A caregiver who excels in this role will:

    + Assist with direct and indirect patient care for one to two patients, such as rooming, vital signs, weight and pulse oximetry. If assigned to a closed unit, you will observe three to four patients.

    + Assure patient safety by ensuring that catheters, tubes or other medical equipment have not been removed or disconnected.

    + Accompany and assist patients at all times, including transport, tests, transfers and ambulation.

    + Identify and report changes in patient status to an RN or physician.

    + Complete all documentation and provide hand-off communication to caregivers responsible for the patient.

    + Initiate and perform CPR when necessary.

    Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + High School Diploma or GED

    + Heartsaver level of Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within three months of hire

    Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

    + Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities, such as basic hygiene, skin care and vital signs

    Physical Requirements:

    + Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

    + Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    + Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.

    Personal Protective Equipment:

    + Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

     

    Pay Range

     

    Minimum hourly: $16.50

     

    Maximum hourly: $16.50

     

    The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education. The pay range displayed does not include any applicable pay practices (e.g., shift differentials, overtime, etc.).
