Description
Function:
Reporting to the Director of the LGBTQIA+ Aging Project, the Director of the Massachusetts Commission on Aging is an administrative, professional and management position responsible for planning, developing, implementing, directing and advocating for the Commission.
Representative Duties:
Oversee Management of the Massachusetts Commission on LGBTQ Aging
+ Advocate for LGBTQ older adults in Massachusetts
+ Implement Commission’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan
+ Identify, plan and develop short term and long -term goals and objectives for annual workplan; monitors and reports on goal achievement
+ Develop, administer and oversee written policies and procedures for the Commission
+ Plan, organize and direct the preparation of reports to legislature, Commission and public
+ Convene Commission meetings – set agenda, minutes, etc.
+ Convene Commission working groups
+ Collaborate with Commission co-chairs and their legislative staff
+ Collaborate with Commission members
+ Recruit new Commission members
+ Collaborate with other related/relevant Commissions, LGBTQ community groups and aging services
+ Update Commission’s website and social media platforms
+ Provide written and verbal testimony to legislature on issues of relevance to Commission’s priorities
+ Promote public recognition of Commission through media, public appearances, participation in conferences

+ Adhere to all agency and departmental policies and procedures
+ Participate in quality assessment and improvement activities as requested
+ Adhere to the highest principles of patient and client confidentiality
+ Adhere to established safety policies, procedures and precautions; identifies potential or actual unsafe situations in the environment and takes measures to rectify the situation
+ Attend all required meetings, in-services and professional trainings
+ Maintain professional competence necessary to perform job responsibilities; maintains and provides agency with records of continuing education activities
+ Serve on agency committees and in professional organizations when requested

Requirements
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience.
+ Bachelor's Degree
+ Excellent writing skills
+ Proven ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
+ Excellent time management skills
+ Experience working with an ethnically, culturally, and racially diverse work staff preferred
+ Ability to work harmoniously with diverse groups of individuals require
+ Must be able and willing to travel throughout the state of Massachusetts.
Preferred Requirements:
+ Familiarity with LGBTQIA+ issues
+ Familiarity with Massachusetts’ LGBTQIA+ communities
+ Familiarity with older adults’ issues and needs
+ Familiarity with the Massachusetts aging service network
Salary Description
69,700-72,800
