Job Title: 2nd Shift CNC Lathe Machinist
Job Description
The primary function of this position is to set up, verify, and operate CNC lathes to machine complex parts according to customer requirements. Responsibilities include setting up CNC lathes, calibrating cutting tools, verifying CNC programs, and performing dimensional and visual inspections. The role involves machining high-temperature and exotic metals, working to ISO 9000 standards, and collaborating across various departments.
Responsibilities
+ Set up CNC lathes including calibration of cutting tools and location of work offsets for part production.
+ Verify CNC programs and operate lathes as required.
+ Complete all applicable paperwork adhering to ISO 9000 standards.
+ Perform dimensional and visual inspections for first piece and in-process manufacturing.
+ Work with high-temperature, stainless steel, and exotic metals.
+ Conduct approximately two set-ups a day.
+ Work on DMG/Mori, NL, or NLX machines with FANUC base control and CELOS X interface.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum 5 years of CNC job shop experience.
+ Proficiency in working to close tolerances in a high-volume environment.
+ Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and perform advanced job shop mathematical calculations.
+ Familiarity with CNC programming codes and capability to perform complex set-ups for prototype and production runs.
+ Experience in performing in-process inspections and working with various machining tools like calipers and CMM.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Understanding of true position tolerancing and Cartesian coordinate systems.
+ Experience with exotic metals preferred.
+ Certification to NIMS is preferred.
+ Completion of a technical school or CNC apprenticeship is preferred.
+ Experience in an AS9100 environment is desirable.

Work Environment
This position offers 3 openings for the 2nd shift (1:45pm - 10:15pm), Monday to Friday. Initial orientation and QMS training will be on the first shift for 2-4 weeks, followed by the second shift schedule. The role requires collaboration with various departments including tooling, saw cut and metal, quality, and planning. Employees should be comfortable working with different departments and leaders. You will need to bring a 6-inch caliper and a 1-inch micrometer.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Diego, CA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $38.00/hr.
