    Job Title: TIG Welder** **Job Description

     

    Join our team as a TIG Welder, where you will engage in custom TIG welding, primarily focusing on building water filtration systems. Although the majority of the work involves welding, you will also assist with cutting metals and operating fabrication equipment as necessary.

    Responsibilities

    + Read and interpret engineering drawings.

    + Grind and cut metal to appropriate sizes.

    + Set up production area to maximize efficiencies.

    + Position parts in fixtures and clamps, using supporting stands to secure the part being worked on.

    + Create jigs when production quantities necessitate.

    + Follow welding procedure specifications to ensure weld conformity.

    + Safely move gas cylinders and attach them to fabrication equipment.

    + Set up welders per company specifications and perform diagnostics and basic maintenance.

    + Examine welds for bead size and other specifications.

    + Repair broken or cracked metal objects, fill holes, and build up metal parts.

    + Lay out, position, and tack weld workpieces.

    + Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead positions.

    + Prepare joints for welding by grinding or other processes.

    + Remove and/or repair any discontinuities from the weld before continuing fabrication.

    + Clean or degrease parts.

    Essential Skills

    + Proficient in TIG welding, particularly on stainless steel piping.

    + Ability to read blueprints.

    + Must pass a 3” 304 sch. 40 6g pipe test and a ½” 304 sch. 10 6g pipe test.

    + Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

    + Strong arithmetic skills for measurements and calculations.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + One-year certificate from college or technical school, or three years of related experience and/or training.

    + Welding certification is preferred.

    + Ability to become certified within the first few weeks of employment (certification is supplied and paid for by the company).

    + Experience with MIG welding and electrical work is a plus.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chaska, MN.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
