    Department Summary

    The University of Oregon Intercollegiate Athletic Department's primary purpose is to provide a unique opportunity for student-athletes to be developed, tested, and encouraged to reach their maximum potential in every aspect of their lives. It is the steadfast goal of the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics to provide the most outstanding student-athlete experience by helping them to achieve excellence, both in the classroom and in their chosen sport. The department has approximately 280 administrative & classified employees and hosts over 600,000 spectators annually, and represents the University of Oregon in athletic competition with other universities & colleges.

    Position Summary

    Reporting to the Head Football Coach, this position has managerial oversight and responsibility for the success of the recruiting department. This position is responsible for determining and establishing an organizational structure and staffing requirements for the program and for implementing and directing a structure for the effective utilization of personnel and resources for the program.

     

    The incumbent exercises professional judgment and decision-making in implementing actions to meet strategic goals. These decisions will assist the program in reaching the goals/objectives of the football program’s mission statement in recruiting and retaining student-athletes for the University of Oregon. The decisions made by the incumbent commit the program to a specific course of action and carry fiduciary responsibility and accountability for managing the program.

     

    This position is responsible for the day-to-day operations and assures the coordination of plans, programs, and events with other programs within the football department. Responsibilities also include conducting post-plan, program, or event review/analysis. This position is responsible for promoting the philosophy and objectives of the intercollegiate athletics program, including adherence to all department policies and procedures, as well as the rules and regulations of the University, the Big Ten Conference, and the NCAA.

     

    Candidates who promote and enhance diversity are strongly desired.

    Minimum Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree.

    • Two years of experience working in a collegiate or professional football program.

    Professional Competencies

    • Knowledge of the recruitment process for Division I football student-athletes.

    • Knowledge and experience with NCAA compliance rules and regulations.

    • Ability to communicate effectively.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, coaches, student-athletes, athletic department constituents, and athletic department personnel.

    • Professional presentation and demeanor.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Power 5 Football Conference experience.

    • Five years of experience working in a collegiate or professional football program.

    • Experience in determining and establishing organizational structure and staffing requirements.

    • Master’s degree.
