Reporting Data Engineer

The Reporting Data Engineer will play a critical role within the MDM Solution Teams, supporting the MDM Product Platform and systems such as VA Profile, VADIR/VIS, and HDR. This position focuses on designing, developing, and optimizing data pipelines and reporting solutions that enable accurate, timely, and actionable insights for complex Master Data Management (MDM) initiatives. The role requires strong technical expertise in data engineering, reporting frameworks, and collaboration across multiple teams to ensure compliance, scalability, and alignment with Veteran-focused outcomes.
Data Pipeline Development & Optimization: Design, build, and maintain robust ETL/ELT pipelines to support reporting and analytics for MDM systems. Ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance with VA standards and regulations (e. . , HIPAA for HDR).
Reporting & Analytics Integration: Collaborate with the Decision Support Reporting Team to integrate reporting requirements into MDM solutions. Develop dashboards, reports, and data models that provide actionable insights for systems like VA Profile and HDR.
Solution Design & Prototyping: Participate in epic elaboration and solution design sessions to define reporting architecture and data flows. Create prototypes and validate reporting solutions with Development Scrum Teams.
Requirements Capture & Documentation: Work with Technical Analysts, Product SMEs, and Customer Success Teams to gather and document reporting requirements. Ensure alignment with business objectives and Veteran-focused needs.
Cross-Team Collaboration: Coordinate with Data Hydration Team for data sourcing and enrichment. Partner with Shared Service DevOps & Quality Team to implement CI/CD for reporting solutions.
Performance & Compliance: Minimize reporting systems for scalability and performance. Ensure compliance with VA security and data governance policies.
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
Experience:
+ 3+ years in data engineering or reporting development roles.
+ Hands-on experience with SQL, ETL tools, and data modeling.
+ Familiarity with reporting platforms (e. . , Power BI, Tableau) and big data technologies.
Skills:
+ Strong understanding of MDM concepts and data governance.
+ Proficiency in Agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, Confluence).
+ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Experience with VA systems or healthcare data (e. . , HDR).
+ Knowledge of compliance frameworks (HIPAA, VA security standards).
+ Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and CI/CD pipelines.
+ Base Pay Range: $155,000/yr.
+ Other Compensation: Incentive Compensation
+ All Compensation is commensurate with employee qualifications, experience, and other factors including geographic location, market and operational factors.
