Salaried, $65,000 - $95,000 DOE

RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervises and coordinates activities of Waste Treat personnel engaged in performing chemical and physical tests required for quality control of waste discharge products. Performs set up, testing, and maintaining of all parameters of the Waste Treatment operations. Oversees daily Waste Treat system personnel to comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
JOB DUTIES:
+ Supervise and direct the operations of the Waste Treatment department. Is responsible for efficient and cost-effective coordinating of all daily Waste Treatment operations.
+ Coordinate / operate Waste Treatment Facility and D.I. unit.
+ Coordinate periodical tests monitoring reports.
+ Coordinate in-plant County Wastewater testing and reporting.
+ Review and evaluation of new chemicals entering the building.
+ Coordinates storage and disposal of hazardous materials and hazardous wastes.
+ Labeling drums and containers.
+ Arranging waste pickup.
+ Maintaining manifests and Waste Treatment discharge logs.
+ Maintaining Scrubber system logs.
+ Maintaining storage areas.
+ Coordinate non-metal waste disposal.
+ Co-coordinate spill response.
+ Proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory when working in the department.
+ This position requires regular use of a respirator. Must pass Respirator Protection and Fit testing.
+ Maintain good employee relations and adherence to labor contract provisions and Company policies. Authorize verbal warnings with notification to Manager and authorize further disciplinary action with immediate notification to Manager.
+ Assist Lead People to instill a “continuous improvement” philosophy throughout the department, whereby each successive run becomes more productive and less costly, and each process becomes faster.
+ Interact with other Supervisors to communicate requirements and issues to ensure production needs are met.
+ Order temporary workers to assist with production needs.
+ Investigate and communicate problems to the appropriate department (i.e., notify Quality Assurance, Tool Room, or Maintenance regarding problems with parts, equipment, or machinery if required).
+ Ensure all operators have adequate training and understand duties while paying particular attention to newer and temporary employees.
+ Must be able to read and follow various reference materials, such as Work Instructions.
+ Assist with maintaining, updating, and explaining Work Instructions and other reference materials.
+ Motivate employees through use of good communication skills. Work directly with employees on day-to-day problems.
+ Develop an understanding of the operation of all Waste Treatment equipment.
+ Recommends or initiates personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, discharges, and recommends necessary disciplinary action.
+ Performs annual employee performance evaluations on subordinates in the Waste Treatment departments.
+ Completes all administrative reporting requirements for the area.
+ Coordinates periodical tests monitoring reports.
+ Must complete D.O.T. hazardous material training and hazardous material emergency response training (HAZWOP).
+ Demonstrate knowledge of all in-house Waste Treatment (hazardous and non-hazardous) & DI systems procedures.
EDUCATION / SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
+ Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and orally.
+ High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
+ Minimum three (3) years’ experience in Environmental Regulation background preferred.
+ Minimum five (5) years’ experience in Waste Treatment Technology preferred.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:
+ Position requires individual to be capable of traveling & working throughout the entire facility, within reasonable accommodation. The noise level is usually moderate.
