Boston Engineering seeks a results-driven Vice President of Sales to lead and to grow its commercial consulting business. This leader will build a high-performing sales organization, secure large-scale consulting engagements, and expand key client relationships across innovation-driven markets including medical devices, diagnostics, robotics, and industrial automation.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in selling complex engineering consulting engagements, developing top-tier sales talent, and growing strategic client accounts. This is a hands-on role with full ownership of the commercial sales function.

Key Responsibilities
Sales Leadership
+ Lead all commercial sales activities, focusing on six- and seven-figure engineering consulting opportunities.
+ Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing sales team.
+ Establish and oversee sales processes, KPIs, reporting, and forecasting.
+ Engage directly in key pursuits and executive-level negotiations.
+ Set clear performance targets and drive accountability across the team.
Client Development and Growth
+ Cultivate long-term relationships with clients and executive stakeholders.
+ Expand client accounts by identifying new consulting opportunities and securing repeat business.
+ Understand client needs and articulate Boston Engineering’s value proposition clearly and effectively.
Market Strategy and Positioning
+ Identify and prioritize commercial markets and ideal customer profiles.
+ Develop go-to-market strategies aligned with Boston Engineering’s consulting capabilities.
+ Monitor industry trends, competitive dynamics, and client feedback to inform sales strategy.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with engineering, delivery, and executive teams to shape winning solutions and proposals.
+ Lead and support proposal development, including scope definition, pricing strategy, and solution framing.
+ Coordinate with marketing to ensure alignment with sales priorities and brand positioning.
+ Minimum 10 years of sales experience, including 5+ years in sales leadership.
+ Proven success selling engineering consulting engagements, including six- and seven-figure contracts.
+ Demonstrated ability to recruit, to coach, and to lead high-performing sales teams.
+ Expertise in managing long, complex sales cycles and developing strategic accounts.
+ Skilled in negotiation, executive relationship management, and solution selling.
+ Fluent in CRM systems and sales analytics.
+ Exceptional communication, coaching, and people-leadership skills.
+ Bachelor’s degree required; technical or engineering background preferred. MBA a plus.

Reports to: President
Travel: Up to 10% travel
Salary Range: The base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $200,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for a performance bonus of up to 20% of the annual wage, based on achievement of individual, team, and company-wide performance goals. The final offer amount will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s education, experience, and skills. A comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, 401(k) match, and paid time off, is also provided.
