We’re seeking a dynamic reporter to cover activist investing from New York. This is one of the most visible, exciting, and demanding beats in business news, and the successful candidate will be expected to break news on the biggest activist situations on Wall Street.

From proxy fights to new activist positions, settlements, boardroom shake-ups, activist-driven M&A and corporate breakups, you’ll be out front of it all. Recent years have seen activists target household names like Disney, Starbucks, and Pfizer — you’ll be covering the next wave.

This is a role that puts you in the middle of the action, dealing with high-profile figures as well as the many intermediaries who shape the activism landscape: proxy solicitors, bankers, lawyers, hedge fund managers, and PR specialists.

We'll trust you to:

+ Build and maintain sources across the activist-investing ecosystem

+ Break news and deliver scoops on the most high-profile activist campaigns

+ Collaborate closely with colleagues across teams and geographies, since activism touches every corner of our newsroom

+ Pitch and write smart, big-picture stories and features for the newswire, website, and magazines

+ Master the fast-moving cadence of proxy fights and boardroom battles

You'll need to have:

+ At least four years of financial news experience

+ A proven track record of cultivating sources and breaking news

+ A competitive spirit and passion for being first

+ Sharp news judgment and crisp writing skills

+ A self-starter with the ability to collaborate across teams

+ The composure to handle conflict, big personalities, and high-stakes reporting with professionalism

+ Experience covering activism is a plus, but we’ll also consider strong news-breakers from other beats

Salary Range = 90000 - 120000 USD Annually + Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the Company's good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
