    Pay Rate:

    _The pay rate for this job is $12 - $12 / hour*_

    What you'll be doing as a Public Safety Dispatcher:

    + Receive, prioritize, and process 911 emergency calls and non-emergency requests for service

    + Elicit and document critical information from callers, including location, nature of emergency

    + Dispatch police officers, firefighters, EMS, and other public safety personnel via radio, CAD, and other communication systems

    + Monitor radio traffic and responder status; ensure officer and responder safety

    + Coordinate mutual aid and interagency responses as needed.Enter, update, and maintain accurate records in Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Records Management Systems (RMS)

    + Log calls for service, incident details, unit assignments, and dispositions

    + Maintain confidentiality of sensitive and criminal justice information.Monitor alarm systems, surveillance cameras, weather alerts, and emergency notification systems

    + Assist field personnel with inquiries such as vehicle registrations, warrants, and criminal history checks

    + Support emergency management operations during disasters, severe weather, and large-scale incidents.Provide professional, courteous assistance to the public in stressful situations

    + Handle routine administrative calls and direct inquiries to appropriate departments or personnel.Participate in training, certifications, and continuing education as required

    + Comply with all department policies, procedures, and state/federal regulations

    + Perform related duties as assigned.Ability to sit for extended periods while operating communication equipment

    + Ability to hear and speak clearly over radio and telephone systems

    + Ability to process multiple streams of information simultaneously

    + Ability to handle exposure to traumatic or emotionally charged situations.Communications center environment with continuous monitoring of screens and radio traffic

    + High-stress environment requiring rapid response and sustained concentration

    + 24-hour operations requiring shift work

    Job requirements:

    + Police, fire, EMS, and emergency management operations

    + Radio procedures and communication protocols

    + Local geography, streets, landmarks, and jurisdictional boundaries

    + Applicable laws, regulations, and CJIS requirements.Ability to remain calm and focused during high-stress situations

    + Clear and concise verbal communication skills

    + Strong listening and information-gathering abilities

    + Proficiency with computers, CAD, and multi-line phone systems

    + Ability to multitask and make rapid, accurate decisions

    + Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills

    + Be able to speak and understand Spanish, as well as English.High school diploma or GED required.

    + Must be at least 18 (or 21, depending on state/local requirements)

    + Ability to type accurately (minimum speed may be required)

    + Ability to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays

    + Pass background investigation, drug screening, and psychological evaluation

    + Must not have any class b or class a misdemeanor or any felonies.Preferred (Optional for Combined Public Safety Model)

    + Experience dispatching police, fire, and EMS

    + Familiarity with emergency management or EOC operations

    + Bilingual skills

    + Background check and drug screening required
