Job Summary and Qualifications
The Division Vice President of Nursing Excellence is responsible for improving patient care through enhancing nursing engagement, elevating the professional practice of nursing, and advancing a culture of recognition and shared governance. Additional responsibilities include advancing our Nursing Professional Practice Model with oversight of academic affairs and community engagement. Furthermore, this position is charged with the development, management and delivery of designated service line of all American Nurses Credentialing Center programs including, Magnet®, Pathway to Excellence®, Practice Transition Accreditation Program, and the Continuing Education Provider unit. The Vice President of Clinical Excellence will participate in the development of the strategy, structure, methodology and evaluation of nursing excellence. This position demonstrates a high degree of responsibility, accountability and autonomy.
PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
+ You will maintain designation of the Continuing Education Provider Unit for Nursing (ANCC).
+ You will guide and support all hospital’s journey to Magnet® and Pathway to Excellence®.
+ You will provide oversight of the Professional Practice Advancement Program.
+ You will organize and lead the Nurse Leader Summit and Nursing Strategic Planning Summit.
+ You will act as the Division Executive Sponsor of the Professional Practice Governance Board and help oversee other Division shared-leadership bedside/frontline groups such as Clinical Support Clinicans (CSCs) and Clinical Nurse Coordinators (CNCs).
+ You will provide support for implementation of evidenced based practice findings and implements resources including Lippincott Nursing Procedure and Skills, New England Journal of Medicine and EBSCO Host.
+ You will directly manage the Nursing Excellence department team members and closely work with the Division Vice President of Clinical Education, and team, which includes administrative directors, directors, managers, and educators.
+ You will work collaboratively with Corporate, Division and facility leadership, and in particular nursing, human resources, leadership & organizational development, and IT&S.
+ You will provide leadership over Division-wide recognition and celebratory events.
+ You will advance nursing excellence and work with the Nursing Excellence team at Corporate, ensuring alignment, proliferation, and execution.
+ You will provide leadership over HCA’s nursing excellence programs, including Unit of Distinction (UoD).
+ You will maintain responsibility for supporting professional nursing activities including the Nursing Annual Report (ANR), Professional Practice Model (PPM), among others.
+ You will act as the Division liaison for Nursing Research and EBP, including the Division council, and help lead and advance this work across the Division.
+ You will serve as a Division expert on nursing practice as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (TBON) and Louisiana Board of Nursing (LBON), including the TBON Peer Review process; engaging in nursing public policy efforts, and serve to advance other TBON work.
+ You will provide oversight for student placement and academic affairs programs.
+ You will oversee and support the key roles of AVP of Academic Affairs and Director of Nurse Leader Onboarding, Integration and Development.
What qualifications you will need:
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
+ Texas RN license.
+ National certification required, with preference in nursing executive leadership or education/staff development.
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
+ Master’s degree in clinical field, Education, Nursing, or Healthcare Administration required.
+ Doctoral degree (or progress therein) highly desired.
Experience:
+ Requires minimum 10 years of experience in hospital-based clinical specialty, multiple preferred.
+ Requires an additional minimum of 2 years, but 5 preferred, in education, organizational development, clinical leadership, human resources management or similar; preferably in a hospital setting.
+ History of progressive leadership positions and abilities.
